Hopefully finish tomorrow. I was hoping to finish today but I've been working slower than usual.
Then finish tomorrow and I'd suggest you only do what you have to do to give the kids the best Xmas you are able. Don't try and do to much...it's so easy to put too much pressure on ourselves. I've said it before, as have numerous others....you come across as a lovely person. Put yourself first for now. Sending hugs from a female in solidarity.
PS as a working female with no kids(only grand kids thanks to my stepdaughter) I find Xmas mega stressful and difficult to get organised.i don't know how you folks with kids do it, particularly as a single parent and unwell. keep reminding yourself you are amazing, even if you don't feel it.

Agree. And I think the need to feel and have everything perfect at this time of year can be ingrained in us and we can all get more down if it isn't. I know I do.

@Becs Pointing a wiggly finger at you and speaking in a semi stern but kind voice....in fact this applies to everyone. Take care of yourselves. Your health and wellbeing is more important to you and your family than a perfectly cooked carrot.

Use the time off to recharge batteries and try to have a good time xx

Becs that's a word that comes over prominent in your posts 'work'. Do you not think you push yourself to much when it comes to work.Always striving to get your work done. Remember work will always be there when we are not. Take it more steady, we all try to do too much, we'll most of us😉.
With you, work, family, football threads, dog training. Take a break and good luck.

Been feeling pretty bad for about 3 months now, terrible sleep and really bad anxiety and overthinking, can't focus or concentrate on anything. Lots going on - relationship struggles and another baby on the way, pressure at work and generally questioning if I am happy with my lot. Have tried the doctors the last 2 days and can't get an appointment.
Ahhhh mate am so sorry and you will pull through this , definitely keep trying the doctors and there is like a drop in cafe over the water think its called the Betsy Jenner and they have people who deal with this sort of thing while you waiting on a doctors appointment ( just found it out last week ).
Don't think it's appointment it's just a drop in where you can get a cuppa etc and speak to someone trained in depression/anxiety ❤️.

Oh gosh, it is all coming at once, pretty overwhelming. And that overwhelmed feeling you have means your mind is never still, swirling and twirling from one thing to another.

Good advice from @lucky there. Take a minute (more than a minute obviously), sit down with a cup of tea, take a deep breath and talk to someone, it might bring a bit context to it all. And even if it doesn't you've hopefully had a wee cup of tea and a chance to sit quiet and chat.

Best wishes to you mate.

I don't know how supportive your work are about you taking some time off just to get some space?

Is it something you can talk to your wife about?

I know support from work and a partner can just ease so much pressure.

Also, I dont know if you can do it through work or afford it yourself but I've done doctors appointments the same day online just to expediate the process.

It's hard as I'm on my own and we need money coming in to live on. I get £21 child benefit but I'm not entitled to any other help. Someone told me to apply for PIP but I don't know if I should or not.

I used to be on tax credits which worked well for me. When I was well and working full time, it ran as a zero award. When I was poorly, I had the flexibility to drop to part time hours and the tax credits would increase to cover the shortfall in wages. The government put me on forced migration to Universal Credit in the summer. I jumped through all the UC hoops including attending three separate in person interviews at the job centre. Then they decided I'm not entitled to any UC so they closed my claim.

I've applied for another job this week. 15 hours a week remote work for a charity, helping others who are struggling. I worked on a similar project last year helping people from low socioeconomic status overcome barriers to employment. I really enjoyed that work, so I think I'd love this job. Fingers crossed 🤞

I can still top up to full time hours with the merchandising work around their 15 hours.

Really hope you get that job mate 👍 . PIP you can still claim while working so I would give it a try as the worst that can happen is they say no, but if PIP is not there to help people like you I don't know who it is for ❤️

Thanks mate I do appreciate that, and all the other wishes of support. One day at a time!

Fortunately have a decent break over Xmas which will hopefully help. Never feel as comfortable talking to my partner, maybe that's part of the problem.

Have you tried Citizens Advice or these local places that help with filling in forms, they would give you advice what you can claim. Trouble with this country is the wrong people are getting the help.
You shouldn't be in a position where you are struggling or looking for second jobs to survive.

I had my mental health appointment today. I'm on the waiting list for treatment but she's not sure how long it'll take. They're just open for emergencies over the festive period, then will assess the waiting list in January and they'll get in touch when it's my turn.

Finished work yesterday. Didn't really do a lot today but managed to get a couple of niggly jobs done at home that I've been putting off.

Going to try posting a bit more on here while I'm off work and see if I can get back into being sociable again. The lady today said to try not to shut myself away which is what I have been doing.

It's too easy to hide away when you are feeling down. Exercise and social interaction are the two things that are massively important....and the two things that are massively difficult when you are going through a tough time.

I have a spare room set aside with all sorts of guitars, pianos, musical stuff and the ability to record....but I find it so tough, cos when I'm down every thing I try to do (if I can be arsed) I think sounds rubbish.
