Longship pub closed in Hebburn due to fighting- mags got a hiding.

Aye, i've lived next to it for 50 years and only ventured through it once or twice
I didn't live too far away. In the 60s & 70s you had to go on & off by bus so you didn't encounter anyone, I've never actually walked through only used the outskirts where people could see you. There were some scary people up there I knew, or knew of, most of them.

1984, the George Orwell one.

The precinct is a sight to behold like.
I used to live in the flats behind it, 15th floor, well more like 14th as you went down stairs into my flat from the landing, my first own digs.

Could tell you some stories from that place, on the plus side was walking distance to the Hebburn branch bus to get to the games, IIRC most of the flats are pulled down now, kind of miss the place warts and all.

lad from cleadon club told me mate. I was in longship for the shed wed away game, was loads of safc fans.
Aye it's a Sunderland pub, even though a few plastic mags get in.
I spoke to staff there, someone who gets on our SAFC bus, they says nowt happened Sunday.

It's also where the 'other' Hebburn bus leaves from too.

No idea where the buses leave from now, when I was a kid it was the labour club for a while, loved that place as the back room had arcade tables, mint things as a young un, then it was the Ramada ( the claps ) for a while, I think those places are all gone now. My uncle Norman was part of the Hebburn branch at some point, used to sit behind the driver, now he could drink god bless his soul, one of my memories from back then is him getting all hot and bothered over Colin West on the bus back after a game, the lads at the back of the bus had his life, he wasn't a fan of West lol.

Miss going to the games with him, it was him that got me supporting the right team, even when all my mates in hebburn as a young lad followed the dark side.

aye, I was in Northumberland court, seen everything coming out of the windows, still lived in them when CC came down and the Gas leak that had us all in the community centre for awhile.

Rough as, but still have fond memories, were cracking flats the layout, but what a place to live lol.

Dinna why anyone would fight in the longship like, it’s a proper sterile greene king full of families having cheap bait

Should have took it down to the clock
They are only happy when they are fighting in the clock
My GG used to be the caretaker there.

I occasionally worked in hebburn once every blue moon and it managed to somehow get progressively worse each and every time. Sad state of affairs.
As always mate. The place is awash with new houses but no decent amenities. They replaced the shipyards with car washes, Turkish barbers and nail bars as the local businesses.
Same in many places, once thriving high streets turned into shitholes riddled with money laundering fronts.

We played Hebburn Labour Club one night years ago and there was a big battle. We scuttled off but still got paid.
