Spirit of 37 - display v Newcastle

No I didn’t say that. The anti-mag submitted. Club approved. Then they asked for more pro sunderland, so we added that too. Then they retracted approval for anti-mag clement.

We aren’t. We’re done after this.

Already spent on a full pro-sunderland display. But if we could I think we would.

Sorry, I thought you said they asked you to do a pro Sunderland one and they ended up blocking that as well.

Bet there was interference from the Saudis in the bit inbetween

The club were never going to agree on an anti Saudi fully organised with the club's backing though. I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by that. The flag group even said that themselves from the off......
@DonaldDownTheWing you posted this and rightly said if individuals wanted to bring their own sportwashing banners etc that was up to them.

Not defending the club here but we seem to be blinkered a bit tonight

Spent days designing a full stand tifo calling out their ownership.

Steve Davison approved it, but wanted KLD to give the go ahead. Waited 12 hours, found out they wanted more “pro sunderland”.

Waited another 10 hours, for David Bruce, KLD & Davison to change his mind and say we can’t have anti-mag stuff.

Fuck this club today.
So instead of making it anti-newcastles-owners could we make it more pro-human rights? The rest of it is so heavily implied that it doesn’t need saying.

So like signs like “men of quality don’t need equality” or in rainbow colours “who are they to say who you can love”

I’m tired do not great efforts but you get the jist.

Like I can understand how the club may not want to be seen to be inflammatory. But only somebody anti-human rights could perceive banners that support human rights to be against them. For them to be offended requires them to admit that their owners (and them for supporting the owners) are in the wrong.

Don't understand what's funny that I'd rather the lads spend 15k on banners that they can re-use rather than a one about them. Wouldn't waste a penny on them.
This, it should be all pro Sunderland and nothing about them.

This. Cancel the lot if possible and send all the money to Amnesty
Or how about keep the display pro Sunderland? Too many are wanting to make it all about them. The mags love it when everything is all about them, so it won’t have the desired impact.

Our frustration is the fact that the clubs COO DID approve the display plans.

Then 36 hours later, after we’d altered the plan to accommodate a club request, they decided to retract it.

That banner is genius on so many levels; absolutely perfect.

It is beyond the pale that clubs as far away as Dortmund have managed to display more confrontational banners then what we’re allowed when they’re our biggest rivals.

I’m not sure where on the list of incompetencies this ranks but in terms of moments when our owners have been utterly spineless then this is right up there; f***ing pathetic

The order had to be submitted on Tuesday. The club gave us approval on Monday for the original plan, then retracted it on Tuesday night.

The COO approved it, then the chief marketing officer and chairman got involved and suddenly it wasn’t approved.

Multiple people on 6 figure salaries and not one of them can make a decision on their own. They’re sackless.

Abysmal.

And closer to home Boro, brighton and palace. We have lost everything we stood for

That’s a shame, well thanks for your efforts anyway mate. The fans are appreciative even if the club aren’t

The club management and local authority approval committees are riddled with mags from bottom to top. It’s no surprise

Gutted for you. Absolutely gutted for our fans as well, I’ve loved the displays and think they look great and can help build up the atmosphere, send a message. However I don’t blame you for not wanting to do it anymore. One of the worst, if not the worst I’ve had today in supporting Sunderland, seem strange saying that after what has happened over the last few years but there you go.

did the club give you a reason as to why they have went back on it/rejected it (sorry you’ve probably already answered somewhere but I can’t see it)
