Spirit of 37 - display v Newcastle

It’s honestly not worth it mate.

We all changed our matchday routines, some of us have actually spent some of our own money to cover things, the amount of time it takes to mock up designs for the club to pull them at the 11th hour.

It used to be fun, but it’s not anymore.
The club really does hate the supporters it seems.
Hope the club are still backing whatever it is SO37 were planning to do. Off the field I have zero faith in the club so wouldn't at all be surprised to see the display pulled at the last minute. We're weird as fuck off the field for displays. And while Newcastle actually fund a lot of theirs, the people doing it make it look good and that's what we want to see. Yet the club don't seem interested in the slightest
It's worse than not being interested, they deliberately look to hinder/prevent.

I can’t describe it in any other way than like banging your head off a brick wall.

The graft the lads & the volunteers put in is phenomenal. There’s nothing glamorous about people putting out flags in seats in the middle of December but they do it anyway.

I suppose it doesn’t help having to deal with people who support them up the road, who are in my experience less than helpful people to start off with.

Mate, been there before, albeit nowhere near on the scale of what you lot are into and facing.

It’s worn everyone down within the group. When we did sheff wed, everyone had such a laugh getting it together at the last minute.

The amount of hurdles that we’ve had to go through to get things done has just sapped the enjoyment from it. It’s also a double edged sword, because it takes the fun out of the match too.

We’ve no doubt made mistakes along the way and not everything has gone as planned, but the things we’re being accused of on social media is the last straw for me.

Would just like to say that I think the work you all do is brilliant and the displays have been fantastic.

FFS, what an awful experience, thanks to all the k unts at the club who have done sweet FA to help, starting to wonder if KLD knows about the shit show going on off the field

If he does then he’s a bit disingenuous .
I agree

I doubt he knows about how difficult it has been and how shite some of his underlings have been in supporting this,or obstructing it. I dont think the £10k would have been hoyed in if he knew

no need for any of the detail, but are the flags going to be out for the derby? Or is it just a full stadium tifo?

It’s a full stadium tifo with a couple of different elements.

We’d hoped to do something in the whole stadium, but the quote for that was 45k. So we have only been able to afford to do it in the RE. We’ve got a new design for the East stand, so that will be unique to the rest of the stadium.

And the worst part of it all is they wait until the lads have collected money in off people before they rip the carpet from under them so no wonder they get people giving them shit on twitter but it’s on the club that, not SO37. SO37 just seem to get hung out to dry while the club drop a shoulder.

If SO37 have been told off the club they can have a display in the north, and have then collected cash in on that basis, and then the club kick fans out the north (which would have already been agreed) SO37 will all just get another load of grief.

KLD’s payment however will cover any binned off north display though so people can't really complain about the money lost.

If north gets shut to home fans it’s a gogw imo. People can’t complain if half the display has to be sacked off if KLD had paid for it for example.

Couple of observations, the club as a corporate entity need to be very conservative with how they associate themselves with outside groups. For a multitude of reasons, sponsors interests, perception/image etc.

Second, there is still a concern that’s very evident from social media that the group isn’t properly constituted and it doesn’t seem to be entirely financially transparent. Now the likelihood is there’s absolutely nothing to that and it’s a group of passionate supporters trying their very best. It is though a risk that doesn’t seem to have been fully resolved. If it were me, I’d constitute a not for profit company and have a range of directors/trustees and produce reports. Not doing so is just a risk for the individuals concerned, one they don’t need.

The costing looks a little suspicious too and it may be that it’s just not good value.

Celtic park, on flag day sees displays across the entirety of the stadium, (which is also bigger) and of a better standard than anything we’ve seen at SoL. £20k is the fundraising total for those games.
