Spirit of 37 - display v Newcastle

I'd rather put our support into getting behind Sunderland than concentrating on them, that's all.

We've got a team of young players. None of them will have played in a game approaching the magnitude of this one. What a shame that when they walk out the display will be about the opposition rather than in support of them. Can't exactly see it inspiring them and just makes us look jealous and obsessed. They're basically Man City Mk2. We never did anything like this when we played them. People are doing it because they are unhappy that the mags got all that money and that's the bottom line. If they were ran by skint Saudis like Sheff Utd nobody would be arsed. It's not even fan funded anymore either with the club putting in 10k.
Who’s your team mate?
Yes because if it wasn't the mags nobody would care less unless you can point me in the direction of where we done this last time we played Man City.

We are literally dedicating £1000s to tell everyone that we're not very happy that our biggest rivals now have the richest owners in world football. Well no shit, of course we're not happy about it! We'd be playing them in League games this season if they hadn't have been bought out.

I'll be going there to support Sunderland, as I do every home game. The opposition are an afterthought.
It’s ok, this has answered my question.
Who says we don't really care about it?

I find human rights abuses to be abhorrent and I think sports washing is an absolute disgrace. State ownership of football clubs should not be allowed. I hate PSG as well, though that was true before the Qataris got involved.

I used to admire City as a club, purely for their fanbase sticking with them as they went through the divisions whilst their neighbours were dominating. I've no time for them nowadays with all the success they continue to buy.

We never did the Poznan to celebrate City winning the league. We did it purely to take the piss out of United. I actually thought it was a classless thing to do at the time and I didn't partake myself. I wanted Man United to win the league that day. It's also worth noting we did the Poznan at Wembley against City when Borini scored. Or weren't you there? Again, purely taking the piss. Nothing more. We may have done it in the league that season when we beat them but I can't remember.

Was I oblivious to the concept of Sportswashing before their takeover? Possibly. The term hadn't even been coined when City's takeover went through. That doesn't mean I approved of where City's money or PSG's money was coming from and how they were spending it. I never approved of where Chelsea's money was coming from either. I thought it was bad for football. It is bad for football. These people aren't interested in football. They're diversifying. They're moving into highly influential industries.

The takeover highlighted a lot of things and put it under the microscope for us. So no, it's no hypocrisy at all.
Brilliantly put, Chris.

Khashoggi should be front and center of any banner.
Proven without doubt but largely ignored
Should hold these banners up at a certain time during the match. 5th minute or something.

"There's blood on your hands,
You sportswashing bastards,
There's blood on your hands!"

Thought this song mightve been aired today. Would've been good on the telly.

What we do have to be mindful of if we have any anti Saudi / pro rainbow or whatever flags or signs is that there's some deadbeats in our support that boo the knee. Was pathetic at the match today

Hard to come across as decent morale compass when we boo the knee and that's half our team doing it today.

I agree with showing the mags up for what they've done / sold out for but like I say difficult to do when we stand out negatively like that. Especially with it being on TV
Embarrassing today like. Loads of songs obsessing over the former club Newcastle.
Yeah too many today like. Dont mind a few but support the lads I say.

Helping them to sportswash as well. Singing about them as if they are still an actual north east football club

Yeah. Good on them I say.

Boro have no bother displaying their views at their matches.

Unfortunately some people in the south stand wouldn’t take part to allow that to happen.

We’ve had people trying to pull down the passion pride wearside banner before the sheff wed play off game and someone outright refuse to help start the Bradley Lowery surfer the other week.

All displays require fan participation and we don’t have that on the scale we need to do things like in the video you posted.
