Sunderland railway station.

It’s not a hole in the ground like ours . The modern London underground stations are bright and welcoming. The Sunderland Station platform experience is bloody awful
Stood on one dark and dingy platform you’ve stood on them all mate.

They thought "Let's get it open rather than wait for the construction of shopping units. Or the delivery of the plants."
That is my thinking aswell, Im sure they could have waited a month or 2 for it to be complete and open it properly, rather then half finished. At the end of the day people will use the current photos as a excuse to attack the city centre

I don't think it's about the construction, more that no one has taken them.

The units and pop-ups are still being advertised online so might as well open now. They might never get filled.

You'd think the likes of Costa would be all over it.

Was wondering about shops etc, for some reason I thought there was going to be more in there, seems alot to spend on basically what they already had??.

Just found the advertising pampflet for the retail units and it looks like they are aiming for more retail units rather the coffee and food based businesses

Minimum Guaranteed Rent/Turnover Percentages
The Landlord usually requires tenants to pay a percentage of turnover net of VAT which isto be underpinned by a minimum guaranteed rent. As a guide between 15% - 20% for catering use, circa 10% - 12% for alcohol based use, between 5% - 7% for convenience use and 10% for ancillary retail.

The move to minimum guaranteed rent and turnover is common in the market, in some cases rents moving to 100% turnover based.

My colleague just shown me the photographs he has posted to the Nexus LinkedIn page.... said to him 'That thing cannot be finished surely??'

You could have a five-a-side match in that vast space!

Looks canny, they've just not filled the inside properly. They've got 3 chairs spaced apart in a massive space, and what looks like a tab vending machine in the corner (assume it's a ticket machine).

Stick the seats together at one side. Keep the big open space and have some sort of decent looking feature in the middle, a sculpture or statue of some sort.
Art work on the wall, and larger departure board, and it'll look canny.

I haven't seen it and can't figure it out from the limited photos but if they do actually restore the original platform they'll need an access entrance to the "new" platforms so hopefully they will have allowed for that here.

Saw the pics on the echo, and I've still no idea what it looks like!

Half the people slagging it off on here don’t even live in Sunderland.

They want to have a look at the clip of their own villages

It’s a cheap black and white coloured shed in our city centre.

It’ll do nothing to improve connectivity for the city to the rest of the country - we need significant investment to re-open the closed platforms downstairs so we can get more connections to the rest of the NE and country.

No offence meant to anyone who worked on it who is on here.

It's only the first phase of planned works

All of this is wrong

Someone running on a ticket to bolster our transport links would get my vote in an election.
