can you clarify?.Admittedly established ODI cricketers won't play domestic List A bit they'll have had the grounding in their own domestic such competition. Most test countries still have a 50 over domestic competition which does not clash with other domestic tournaments e.g Aussie Marsh Cup,India Vijay Hazare trophy,W.Indies regional super cup,Kiwis Ford Cup etc. The English set up denies that grounding.

Yeah, that's what I thought. It's not necessarily a dig at the hundred being what it is, just that it's the competition that's scheduled at the same time as the 50 over tournament.

I'm not saying our own ODI cup couldn't be better placed and offered an alternative in a later post. I just think blaming the current malaise completely on the Hundred is missing a few points.
Just picked a random player. Bumrah has played 114 list A matches, 89 were ODIs
Sadly the schedule is so packed, and will only get worse for franchise players

What you've said it absolutely spot on but blaming the Hundred on our world cup shambles is incorrect(as much as the Hundred is a pile of shite). It's definitely an issue going forward, as you say the next lot off the rank play domestic List A elsewhere.
In 2018 and 2019 you'll find our world cup squad didn't play a lot of the domestic list A games and it didn't harm our chances. But we gave plenty of priority to big ODI series where we kept a relatively consistent side, Archer aside.
I think it comes down to arrogance. They just thought they'd rock up and be as good as they were from 2015-2019, because in the intervening years we'd added to the T20 crown too. We bat 1-11, so we'd be absolutely fine chasing totals down etc.
But of course our players barely played together for 4 years in the format. Which for me is more alongside the arrogrance is more the fault for the world cup failings.
Skipping the Ireland series, a chance for them to play more together as a side, for me just further exemplified that was the attitude. Buttler choosing to chase at high scoring grounds a further nod to my view.
