I didn't read it like that. It was mentioned by North of his potential partnership with Parkinson in T20. Sowter mentions the club going forward in all forms of the game not specifically him. Also no mention if a change in his contract.
I suppose we will only know by the date when he actually returns to Durham

Now I’ve read it again it does suggest the club and not him, my bad!

He intended to play the last couple of games hence he played in the 2nd XI game, but then the club extended Parkinson's loan deal.

That will probably be the best chance of him playing if they fancy it. Especially if he is hanging around at the club and doesn't get a franchise gig before returning to Australia.
