Losing Clarke in January

I thought we were losing him in the last window ?
Did he not sign a long contract ?

They are moaning because it would be massively weakening the team and none of the backup players look anywhere near ready to step up. Although its fair to say they haven't really had the opportunities yet.
I know but it is going to happen eventually, they are going to have to play to get better. I do think other players should have had their opportunity by now though.

Hard to give them an opportunity ahead of our best player. I don't disagree, but they are going to have to develop a lot very quickly to replace the output of our top players.

Surely it's Roberts who will be gone? Still no signs of him signing a new contract, and Southampton are probably still tapping his agent up from the summer.

It’s going to happen isn’t it.

Sorry, the emotions are still raw from yesterday.

Still p!55ed off with sports in general if you include the Rugby & Cricket 😔
Don't think we will lose Clarke (or even Ballard), do think we will sell Roberts if there is an offer (good business if he won't sign a contract) and Pritchard unless we give him and extra year.
Clarke has nearly 3 years left on his deal and if he ends up leading scorer (or there abouts) his value will go up and we as a club are in the driving seat here and Speakman does not look like an easy touch or a soft shite to me.

Payday soon, maybe more sold then

It is definitely a possibility.

Unless we go up (which I don't feel we will), I think there's a strong possibility Clarke, Neil and Ballard will all be playing PL football somewhere next season.

The other side of the coin is that given the duration of their deals, we could end up with £50m-£60m combined for the 3.

I don't think he'll be the loss many seem to think.

In all honesty, his productivity is replaceable easily enough.

Canny player and exciting to watch, but I wouldn't lose too much sleep over his departure.

Agreed,

Flair is all well and good, but I'd still take someone who'll get past his defender and deliver a ball in without the need to beat his man 3 times, then lose it. It's fair to say Amad probably made Roberts look better than he is. No goals or assists this season yet always has the ball in dangerous areas. Even Ba has a better end product and he's not even a winger.

just thinking, you saying about our best player.

we could well leave the january window having lost all of our best attacking players from last year (roberts, diallo, clarke, stewart) have to wonder what our plans are with pritchard anarl.

ba, bellingham, aouchiche, rusyn etc as you say, still have a bit of a way to live up to them

AGREE 👍

Nicky Summerbee , rarely beat his man and wasn't dazzling to watch individually, but was brilliant at crossing the ball and as a result must have contributed to dozens of goals. Sadly atm Roberts is not living up to his potential, there needs to be more - either like those goals against Reading or more assists.
