Forthcoming gigs.

Never heard of The Damn Truth til last night, brilliant they were, do was Glenn Hughes, shame it ran abit late, left just before the end to catch the metro, otherwise a fantastic night
Only "observation" I'd make is that they could have done maybe 3/4 more songs instead of all the jamming/elongating of songs and the rather long drum solo.

I was talking to him at Durham- first time I saw them was supporting Simple Minds at Roundhay park. He was adamant that Simple Minds supported the Daintees 😂
I was at that. He was getting heckled, some tools giving him the “who the f***ing hell are you?” nonsense, and he said “I’ve had people piss on my shoes, busking on Northumberland Street, so I’m not scared of you” 😁

I was also there. Can't believe I was allowed to go. I was only 15 and I got separated from my school mate who I'd travelled with. I was panicking a bit trying to find the bus afterwards mind. I thought it was a great day at the time. All About Eve and The Silencers were on too I think. I liked All About Eve back then.

They were (both). I liked them as well. My abiding memory of AAE was how tiny she was from where we were up on the hill! Think the other band were called something like Ex CNN or XCNN, short lived but I think quite hyped at the time. No real recollection of them. Silencers seemed to support everyone I went to see for about a year.

XC-NN IIRC.

I thought AAE were a bit quiet for a stadium - I as a bit disappointed as Texas had done all other Simple Mind dates but not that one.

Possibly Ian McNabb on Friday night but it depends how I'm feeling after Covid and Flu jabs. If not, it will be Lucy Spraggan on Sunday at an album launch gig (rather strangely the album was released a few weeks ago).

Excellent night out. Great bands. The Damn Truth just get better every time I see them.

Hope you enjoyed @mickb2112 😉
Absolutely brilliant. Finally got to see The Damn Truth and they were every bit as good as you said they were.

Glenn Hughes - what a voice -he can hit notes that no other 72 year old can. It`s as if he`s been preserved since 1974. Loved the Californian Jam interpretations of the Deep Purple classics. Sail Away and Gettin' Tigher were my highlights. Great stuff.

Are you doing Europe tomorrow night @King Kareoke
he sang everything - his voice is really very good for his age to be honest
I`d even go as far to say that his voice was stunning without taking his age into account.

Bearing in mind he`s 72 it was out of this world. None of his contemporaries can touch him at the moment as a live singer.

@mickb2112 no because I am at the Fire Station to see Samantha Fish (booked before the Europe tour was announced). My love of women rock singers coming to the fore this week.

By the way an encore of Highway Star/Burn was not a bad finish😄😄

I am pleased you liked The Damn Truth they are getting better and better and deserve big things.

Definitely more flighty and ethereal than rock. The first album had a couple of louder ones but I know what you mean. I think their star was also in decline by that point - they’d lost their main guitarist/co-writer and he was actually in that other band so I wonder how it was backstage!

Undertones and Neville Staples on Friday at the Boilershop. Missed Undertones last time around so thought I'd give it a go.
Undertones are good live but saw the m at Stone Valley this year and h th hey are at Northern Kinn next year. Was asked to go to ghe Cluny yo see London Calling same night. £22 for a tribute band 🥴

I hummed and harred about which one to go to and was going to do London Calling tomorrow but won't be back from Stoke in time so plumped for the Undertones. London Calling are good but as you say, £22 is steep for a tribute band.

It`s a good time for music where we have multiple shows and venues to choose from. Samantha Fish will be great tonight but I`ll be at Europe with my whole family. Can`t wait. They are class live.
