Has anyone tried talking to these people? Might set up an appointment to talk to them, can't lose anything other than the time it takes I guess:

Fantastic Marra, pleased for you, been retired for 18 months and have no idea how i found time to work tbh. You‘ll love it, the feeling on a Sunday night knowing you have no work in the morning is just sublime, not to mention coming back off holiday / Christmas without that work dread etc.
The corporate thing did for me too, emperors new clothes bullshit, having to sit there and pretend like you don’t see through it while watching the climbers blow smoke up the managements arses, became impossible to continue for me. Couldn’t sacrifice my integrity for one more day.
Enjoy it, you’ve earned it.
You are going to be unbearably smug on this thread next year.Mate - Superb.
To think I am done at Christmas and won’t have that January going back dread.
Instead painting the house and all the other things that seem to get left or rushed.
Sounds like what I am going to do.
Mrs (no) already agreeing doing 4 days a week thus we get a day together.
”Will you still be going to football?”
I think we know the answer
Been reading your posts for a long time Mate.
You know what, you never think you have enough however when it’s mapped out for you it makes it a little clearer.
The concept for me is around money, as important time and getting out of this Corporate bollocks and managing people.
No longer will I have to write succession plans, worry about somebody leaving, budgets and all the shite I have detested for such a long time.
Just have to worry about our shite defence and a sat nav address to Crawley
Made of for you my friend.
Ever down this way come and have a beer
This, this and this.
Already the mind is thinking I need a job, what if etc.
Simply you don’t and it’s the years that have engineered our brains to think just that.
Will have a few months off doing just that, fk all and if she starts moaning then will just go out for that extended dog walk.![]()

Since I wrote this post, I switched 70% of my pension holding ( 200k total) to a Global Equities fund which had shown 60% increase over 5 years .Yes I've been looking
It's basically in a Multi Asset pot ( mainly stocks ) and has grown by 17% in iast 5 years which is dismal imv.
Global equities funds have risen 50%+ in 5 years in some cases
Switching the allocation online is a bit confusing so I ve asked them to look into it.
Amazing isn't it - you pay someone a fee to manage your investment amd they let it stagnate in a dead pool

This was actually done by the L&G pension fund manager once I'd identified the fund I wanted to switch to.
1 week in & I'm already £3k to the good.
Hoping for big growth over the medium term
Thanks to all the folk on here who advised me to do this.
II've had better pensions advice on SMB than I ever got in 15 years with Legal & General![]()
Or retire next week while the going’s goodJudge it another 5 years mate
I will of course .Judge it another 5 years mate
I take £20k out every couple of years - so growth at any point is goodOr retire next week while the going’s good![]()
Depends on how much you want to retire- or how much you want to keep working. In reality what age is a good time to pack in work and enjoy life, 50’s,60’or70’s
50’ great still young enough to go mad
60’ about sensible time to slow down
70’ missed the last boat
Van I just ask, public or private sector?Depends on how much you want to retire- or how much you want to keep working.
Late 50s for me seemed right- and still seems right .
After 35 years you tire of corporate bullshit and office politics etc
Bit of bothVan I just ask, public or private sector?
Figured bit of public sector. No disrepect intended. It's hugely not possible to retire early in private sector that earlyBit of both
Depends what your job was and how much you'd put aside .Figured bit of public sector. No disrepect intended. It's hugely not possible to retire early in private sector that early
Ps my retirement wouldn't have been possible at that age only on the basis of the pension potFigured bit of public sector. No disrepect intended. It's hugely not possible to retire early in private sector that early
Don't blame you one bit. Fair play to youDepends what your job was and how much you'd put aside .
No disrespect taken
Ps my retirement wouldn't have been possible at that age only on the basis of the pension pot
Also some money put by from property sales etc .
And a bit of inheritance
In general I agree - very difficult to retire early in a averagely paid private role .
My career was about 50:50 private & public
Public amassed 90,% of pension benefits

Your right everyones circumstances are different, some people have paid there way into a pension scheme giving them the option to retire early or continue working, were others have no choice but to continue working as they have no work pension until the state pension kicks in.20's and early 30's.
But if you're asking about retiring there is no correct answer. Everyone is different.
Completely mate.Your right everyones circumstances are different, some people have paid there way into a pension scheme giving them the option to retire early or continue working, were others have no choice but to continue working as they have no work pension until the state pension kicks in.
It is mate, about 98% of my total pension pot is from private sector although 8 of the 38 years were public sector. If I had not been in the public sector during this time I would have more pension without a doubt. It probably is helped by the fact a number of the private sector pensions are DB and I have paid a shit load more into my current fund due to the fact i earn a lot more than I ever would in the Public SectorFigured bit of public sector.
