Euro 2028 Stadiums

Newcastle will have a 65,000 capacity by then and a fans zone, along with an airport, luxury hotel accommodation and city centre location. Apart from that I can’t understand why they chose that option over Sunderland.

Ground?

Stadium of Light isn’t on the list because of the bias the FA has against the North East and particularly Sunderland and a reluctance to use it for a big football tournament. It’s ok for the Lionesses and a meaningless friendly against a team known more for Rugby and Cricket than for football and nations know more for chocolate. Just not for a significant football tournament.
Do yourself a favour and STFU ferchrissakes. Are you on some sort of sponsored self embarrass?

The SOL has never been used for a game with two non home teams as there’s not the hotel capacity in the vicinity. The majority of the fans at these games you’re hinting at are from the NE wether Lionesses or men’s games. Romania v Greece frinstance would provide different problems.
The SOL lost out to Seville nigh on 20yrs back for the UEFA Cup Final which turned out to be Porto V Celtic. The NE dodged a bullet.
If the Anfield pitch doesn't meet UEFA requirements his come they play their UEFA competitions there?
For finals. It’s well known to be too small.
What’s changed since 1966 then?
Nowt at all.

Absolutely brilliant stadium, not tarnished by the blood of innocents.

Why has the SoL hosted countless England Internationals then?
That is a different question and you know it. Stay focused.

Also when you say countless does that really mean "not many"?

I'm not too arsed about Newcastle winning the bid as I expected it, especially with the expectation that the landfill will hold 65k by then, but Newcastle is hardly awash with loads of hotels anyway meaning that plenty of visitors will also end up filling Sunderlands hotels so we'll benefit from it financially as a city anyway without having to put the work in.

He probably means more than Newcastle have.

Well he would be wrong then wouldn't he? He specifically said "Why has the SoL hosted countless England Internationals then?"

In the men's game only one (so not countless) senior competitive fixture has been played at the SoL by England and it was a qualifier. SJP meanwhile has hosted 2 since the SoL was built.

I would also note that he probably specifically chose England as to not do so would have weakened whatever point he is attempting to make even further.

He just can't get past "but the SoL is better cos I say so" - I said he could not come up with a rational reason why that is true and he still hasn't.

Sunderland are cursed. Just think if england got the world cup in 18 like we should have, the sol would have been extended and we would likely be a venue for this.

Also sunderland council should never have put money into developing newcastle airport, it should have been built next to nissan which is a much more central and accessible location for the north east as a whole and is between 2 major roads, a19 and a1. It's absolutely ridiculous being in ponteland, nightmare to get to takes over 1 hour to drive in the afternoons and longer on the metro.

Look at Newcastle using our training facilities on their application anarl, should have said aye ok give us 50 million, money bag Saudis or p*ss off.

Never in my life have I ever been so disgusted, shocked, offended and repulsed by a comment on here. The best favour I can do is to do what I should have done the moment I signed up - shut you up and banish you forever to Ignore where I don’t have to read your vile, repulsive, caustic, bile (I expect nothing less on here nowadays) and frankly there is not a single thing I’ve ever been more proud of in my life than to throw you on Ignore.

You are a sick person and you need to go somewhere where you can learn to treat people with more respect.

It’s not game over for the SOL tbh. Casement Park is still a major doubt and it doesn’t really have much support within NI. Frankly they would have been better looking at doing something with Windsor Park.

What I would say is, the failure to keep the SOL up to date has initially cost us. The club has known for a few years we wanted the Euros and they could have done something to strengthen our bid.

Looking at the stadiums though, it’s ridiculous Ibrox and Parkhead aren’t on the list.

So if the Northern Ireland stadium fails to materialise ( and maybe the Everton stadium too) would we be in the running?

Everton’s ground will be fine.

Casement park is at best 50/50. There isn’t a huge amount of support for the development - especially as it isn’t even a football ground.
It’s 4 1/2 year off both grounds will be done 😅

Yours will be. Casement Park is iffy

Yeah why aren’t the Glasgow stadiums on the list??
