Either way , the posturing twat can fuck right off .Maybe that was a decision made in the referees dressing room to be done in solidarity with his assistant and nothing to do with players at all.

Hway mate you just admitted knowing very little about him. It's the way of the world unfortunately.
There is very little or no accountability these days and you can bet your bottom dollar that Gillett will be officiating another high profile or Premier League game after the international break.
I must confess to knowing very little about this particular referee before Saturday but it would appear that he has form for making poor and/or controversial decisions both as an on-field and VAR official.
As I understand, the only punishment referees tend to receive for their perceived failings is to be 'demoted' to the EFL where they don't have the benefit of technology to assist them which in turn only punishes the likes of ourselves who have to endure them for a game and are subsequently adversely impacted by their ineptitude (remember select group referee Craig Pawson at Blackburn last season?).
I genuinely hope that the club has made representation to the powers that be about Gillett and the inconsistency of his decisions. Let's hope it's the last we see of him in a good while.
Taking the knee has lost a lot of its effectiveness but I still respect anyone doing it, including this ref. It has no impact on the game yet some people still feel the need to boo.Maybe that was a decision made in the referees dressing room to be done in solidarity with his assistant and nothing to do with players at all.
I know its massively difficult being a ref but this nugget set a precedent by failing to book multiple shirt pulls (he saw them as fouls were given) and then booked Roberts for the 1st one we did, players just didnt know where they stood with him as his inconsistancy was off the chart, look at the way the 2 keepers were handled, Dieng was awarded 2 fouls when not even touched for 1 of them in the 1st half while Patto in the 2nd was roughed up at every corner with no award. It’s the lack of people looking at bigger picture and reasons for these mistakes that gets me.
Year after year, month after month you get these threads after ref after ref fails to book or send people off.
It’s happened for years.
At what point do fans step back and say?
Maybe it’s not as easy as it looks maybe having to give decisions in real time is really difficult.
After all, all the evidence shows that.
Or is it just every ref from every era is just shit?
It’s the first one that makes common sense to me
It was a straight red.How about the 4th official, he should have had a great view?
I was at the front of the prem concourse north stand goal line and had a great view.
It was a criminal assault, no attempt at the ball and smacked Dan so hard with an elbow to the face he was spun around mid air.
Much worse than a 'coming together'.
It is hard being a ref but he chose the profession.I know its massively difficult being a ref but this nugget set a precedent by failing to book multiple shirt pulls (he saw them as fouls were given) and then booked Roberts for the 1st one we did, players just didnt know where they stood with him as his inconsistancy was off the chart, look at the way the 2 keepers were handled, Dieng was awarded 2 fouls when not even touched for 1 of them in the 1st half while Patto in the 2nd was roughed up at every corner with no award.
Point is, he didn't follow the rules on loads of occasions, that's what folk are mainly complaining about.TalkSPORT going in on Tony Mowbray this morning for critiquing a ref for making a decision within the rules. Ref ruined the game but he got beat 4-0. The ref followed the rules and rightly sent him off according to talkSPORT![]()

They are right, the problem was he didnt follow the rules at multiple other times during the game.TalkSPORT going in on Tony Mowbray this morning for critiquing a ref for making a decision within the rules. Having read your previous posts, I am fully aware that you defend referees to the absolute hilt and that's fine, it's your perogative to do so and I respect you for that.Hway mate you just admitted knowing very little about him.
Surely it’s common sense that the people who do know a lot about him are in a more informed position to decide when I and who he refs.
These things are getting silly it’s like watching a player play badly in one game hearing he may have had one other bad game and thinking you know better than the manager who has seen him in every game and training!!
Ellis Taylor told the Ref to fuck off very loudly and very clearly last night - nothingHaving read your previous posts, I am fully aware that you defend referees to the absolute hilt and that's fine, it's your perogative to do so and I respect you for that.
I am no referee basher, without them there would be no game of football so I try to be objective in my viewpoint but come on. It was an absolutely hopeless and farcical officiating performance from Gillett. He was spineless for almost the entire game and, if you didn't know better, you would have been forgiven for thinking Middlesbrough had twelve men.
He was just so unbelievably bad and for a man who claimed to be empathetic on the understanding that this game was 'a derby', he was anything but. The shambolic sending off for using an expletive that is repeated countless times on every football pitch in every game and goes unpunished sums up the general hopelessness, compounded by a complete inability to penalise the opposition for any infringement while handing out yellow cards like confetti to Sunderland players for a series of non-fouls in comparison.
One would assume that if a commonly-used expletive was worthy of a second yellow card, a studs up and shin-high challenge would also be, and if that wasn't, being penalised twice for diving whilst on a yellow card would be enough for such a stringent referee? Of course, it wasn't and incompetency simply doesn't cut it.
After watching the 'Jarred Gillett Show' (sorry the Wear-Tees Derby) on Saturday, I read up on him and this sadly doesn't appear to be a one off as managers and supporters of AFC Bournemouth, West Ham United, Wolverhampton Wanderers and no doubt countless others will testify.
You claim to be the Voice of Fair Play but I didn't see much evidence of that in the referees performance on Saturday although I expect we'll agree to differ.
Unbelievable isn't it. I know referees have a difficult job to do but the inconsistency in the application of the laws is ridiculous as was proved on Saturday. To make fish of one and fowl of another is disappointing and within the game there was a case for Coburn, Greenwood, Jones and Smith to have been dismissed if the letter of the law was followed yet suprising none were. Guess it's sour grapes on our part.Ellis Taylor told the Ref to fuck off very loudly and very clearly last night - nothing
You have 2 heads and 4 eyes how couldn't see the clear attempt to headbutt Hume (No.32 in red and white stripes), also Coburn didn't make any attempt to challenge for the ball when he took out Ballard. But if you want we can agree that the yellow for that is fine then he deserved either a straight red for the attempted butt or the very least a second yellow. Greenwood??? 3 yellows should've been given to him, but you won't agree to that.Well Jones and Coburn didn’t commit sending off offences. Jones had his foot trodden on, it was very clear in the replays and even the commentators pointed it out. It was outside the area so should have been a free kick to Middlesbrough. Ref got that totally wrong in dishing out a yellow to Jones there. Coburn and Ballard correctly got yellows each for the shoving match they had after the collision prior to that. I’ve watched that incident over and over and there’s no elbow to the head of Ballard, or a head butt afterwards as some claim. If anyone can provide a photograph to prove otherwise please do
The 4th officials are completely useless. How about the 4th official, he should have had a great view?

That’s very strange that mind.
Doesn’t even wave his arms about like Dan Neil did. What the fuck has he been sent off for there?![]()
Well yeah never disputed he had a bad game, as he clearly did, my points are more general about difficulty of giving decisions in real time for refs in generalI know its massively difficult being a ref but this nugget set a precedent by failing to book multiple shirt pulls (he saw them as fouls were given) and then booked Roberts for the 1st one we did, players just didnt know where they stood with him as his inconsistancy was off the chart, look at the way the 2 keepers were handled, Dieng was awarded 2 fouls when not even touched for 1 of them in the 1st half while Patto in the 2nd was roughed up at every corner with no award.
Well no mate my points are general points rather than just Saturday and although he had a bad game on Saturday.Having read your previous posts, I am fully aware that you defend referees to the absolute hilt and that's fine, it's your perogative to do so and I respect you for that.

Basically I see it like this, each ref goes out to try his best under extremely proven difficult circumstances, understandably under them circumstances he will make mistakes some will be worse than others and some will be better than others.you need to stop arguing for the sake of it.
Cyprus is actually right, we the fans have no accountability for the officials.
We are treat to silence and the hope that things go back as they were.
It is only when the failings are disclosed by constant media attention that somebody then comes out and says something. Yet the media are not fair and balanced. That goes for and against for their attitude to referees.
we have been treat very badly by referees over the years and yet they are not held to account. Look at Stoke, did they not disclose that they have had 6 letters of apology this season alone for bad decisions.
There is something that is very wrong with what is going on and sticking your fingers in your ears does not help
I think it is summed up, when SNQ was in charge. We had a player sent off at man city. the club appealed the red card. The ref assoc at the time, looked at it and apologised, saying he should have been sent off. When it went to footballing authorities, our player red card was not rescinded but instead received an extra match ban for a frivolous appeal.
we can bat our eye lids for all we want, we are just lemmings that have to follow what others say.
The most famous being there is no corruption in FIFA. Oh really
