I’ve shown you TWO videos of the elbow into Ballard’s face, are you f***ing kidding me

Log off man
Nothing in those videos that shows anything other than two players challenging for the ball. If Coburn had bashed his elbow into Ballards head as you claim there would be stills being shown to demonstrate it. There aren’t any because it didn’t happen. Get over it, it only happened in your head, not real life which is why the referee never gave anything for it

Well done for confirming that you’re not just a bell end but a moron too.

I'm a Middlesbrough fan and would be just as frustrated at the sending off if it was the other way around especially when you see in every game you watch on TV a player swearing and screaming at the ref. If football is going down that route it will end up 4v4 by the end of the game. Although you can't blame the ref for the performance of the second half from your lads I think with the young team and with the lack of experience in it you didn't know how to cope and sat back inviting us to press. Definitely wouldn't of been 0-4 if it was 11 v 11.
Personally would like to see us both go up and have 3 North East teams back in the Premier league.👍
The only thing I would take issue with is 3 NE clubs in the premiership. One would be terrorist state backed club and there should be no place for sports washing in the premier league.

Apart from that a well balanced and fair post.

Shame you can’t take the moron WUM embarrassing your club on here somewhere else. 👍

So people are complaining that the ref didn't get some decisions right, which I agree with, but on an occasion that he applied the rule properly, he is still wrong?
The amount of people watching, and DNs adrenaline has got nothing to do with it mate.
40, 000+ were watching another 21 adrenaline filled players as well, but DN was the one who gave the ref the excuse to show a yellow.
The ref was crap, and you are understandably put out by his decision, so am I, but the fact remains DN gobbed off and got booked. He has to accept some of the responsibility for that.

Or are we just saying that players can say what they like to the ref, and he can do fuck all about it?
People are complaining because no one knew where they stood with the ref, one minute it was fine to tell him to fuck off in his face the next its a card for Neil and off you go, multiple shirt pulls by Boro players and nothing but Roberts does one and the cards out, it was ridiculous inconsistancy.
Yes i agree, referees should always overlook the rules so as not to upset the home support - i mean you only have to look at how he’s upset all the cry babies on this thread because of that nasty selfish man applying the rules of the game
Except he didnt apply the rules all game did he or Crooks would have been off before Neil for telling him to fuck off in his face or maybe for a couple of the many shirt pulls he did

It’s a shoulder charge - if it’s a clear elbow show us the evidence. There isn’t one still photo of Coburn elbowing Ballard - if he had show the evidence, you can’t because it didn’t happen. It’s really that simple. Repeating a lie over and over doesn’t suddenly make it become truth you know
Aye, Ballard went mental over a shoulder charge. Behave man you silly sod.

Still waiting for actual photographic evidence of this clear elbow assault on Ballard that every Sunderland fan seemed to see, but none of the officials or those commenting on the match with the availability of replays to watch couldn’t - funny that isn’t it, not one picture of this violent assault has surfaced so far, despite being filmed from numerous angles

You been shown two videos

Not in the championship there wouldn't be. That only happens for PL games.

Well Jones and Coburn didn’t commit sending off offences. Jones had his foot trodden on, it was very clear in the replays and even the commentators pointed it out. It was outside the area so should have been a free kick to Middlesbrough. Ref got that totally wrong in dishing out a yellow to Jones there. Coburn and Ballard correctly got yellows each for the shoving match they had after the collision prior to that. I’ve watched that incident over and over and there’s no elbow to the head of Ballard, or a head butt afterwards as some claim. If anyone can provide a photograph to prove otherwise please do
There was an elbow and he was looking where he was going to put it, he was nowhere near the ball. Cowardly.
The headbutt attempt on Huggins was probably shielded from the ref by the players but again on the highlights you can see it’s intentional.

Wigan player got a straight red card for doing the same thing at the weekend

Edit: was a second yellow

I'm never one to get after referees, but that was as bad a refereeing display as you'll see.

Found it very peculiar in the second half when he had his arm around their number 7's back, and during that drinks break stoppage following the incident in the South Stand, the officials were mingling with the Boro camp.
Aye the ref was shite as Boro should have had at least 1 yellow before Neil got his 1st but that was just f***ing stupid from Neil already being on a yellow (again from a daft needless challenge with raised foot showing studs). I know Mowbray has commented on it but I'm not sure it's as simple as a frustrated throwaway "That's a f***ing foul" comment given the gesturing and then initial approach to the ref from Neil as what was said exactly?

You can see the ref points at Neil (it's a goal kick so he's not pointing for a corner) and then sweeps his arm to the side so is the ref telling Neil to go away? Neil kept coming towards the ref so the ref got out his yellow before Neil got to him.

You can see Neil's initial reaction more clearly in the live Youtube gif clip (is this the initial "f***ing foul" comment?) and the ref pointing. The 2nd gif also shows the ref's sweeping arm action but then he seems to react to Neil right after so what did Neil also say at that point to get a reaction like that?

For all we know Neil could have said summit else when the ref told him to go away. I doubt a player is going to admit it if he rightly sent off for what he said as he's be heaping all the blame on himself. Does the ref's report include what was said? It's just a shame O'Nien as a Captain especially didn't grab Neil when he was near to Neil starting to complain.

I don't think O'Nien coulda done much about that mind. That's the first time I've seen it to be honest (I was too busy watching Hume berating the linesman to even notice the Neil incident on Saturday). Neil's been a fuckin' idiot, he's not 'gesticulating' or walking back into position, he's having a go at the ref. Stupid boy.
As I said earlier. Not looking at the ball, not looking to jump for the challenge, just stuck his elbow into Ballard as he headed it away.

Ref and linesman totally oblivious 😐

Not sure which side of the halfway the line the lineman on the near side was but he should have been no more than about 30 yards from that incident with a totally clear view.

Obviously the ref can see Ballard foul the keeper, which he did, not looking at the ball, basically backing into him without much force. However, he can't see this.
Sorry like, but that clip is just a blur. Proves bot all on the face of it.
Aye I saw it as wasn’t sitting too far away. Straight red and given the antics the ref encouraged we should have made a lot more of it.

Elbowing is a cowards trick.

Thankfully Ballard wasn’t seriously hurt.

A incompetent / cheating performance by the referee. Either he shouldn’t be allowed to officiate our games again.
I take it we're just not mentioning O'Nien's elbow on Wednesday night.

Not like you to look for as m alternative view. We are talking about Saturday and consistency.

Yo can drag any point up in history if you want but it’s not relevant to Saturday.

😂

It isn't the clearest clip but it shows the Boro player arriving late, he never looks towards the ball, he barely jumps to challenge and after he's cleaned Ballard out you see his arm going back down. IMO he's gone to do him there.

It's at the very least a booking, he doesn't challenge properly he just wipes Ballard out. Ballard's leg actually goes above their players head he's caught him so hard. Others with a good view at the game say it's an elbow. Ballard's reaction say it's an elbow.

The ref bottles it and books the pair of them.

 If you're referring to me O'Nien comment, it was just a flippant remark in reply to the "coward's trick" comment.

I've already said the ref on Saturday was bad.

Fair. I must admit it was difficult to see what happened from where I was sitting. It was clear though the ref had totally lost the game at that point.

The pair of them big bastards up front were dirty as owt all afternoon. That Crooks got away with murder.

He did intentionally lead with the elbow, you can deny it all you like but he went to do Ballard. I had a good view of it at the match and was convinced he had done it on purpose, Ballard’s reaction would back that up. The reason the referee didn’t see it was that he was looking in the opposite direction, blowing the whistle for half time and milking the moment. Pretty much summed up his inept performance. As for the linesmen ….. we all know they don’t even give throw ins without the referee’s permission.
