The ref (see PGMOL thread)

That looks a straight red to me.

Got away massively with that one. If he had any common sense or intelligence he’d have spent the rest of the game hiding from the ref.
This(again) people going on about ref sympathy can’t see the bigger picture. If all refs are consistent (which we all want but they are jumping up and down about) Neil would have been showered and already in the pub.

Neil was 20 yards away and was walking towards the ref as he points to the foul that should have been given which is probably his "It's a f***ing foul comment", the ref waves him away and Neil still keeps walking and talking so must have said something more than just that previous comment and then suddenly the ref reacts to that. Unless the audio is released then nobody knows what happened as I don't know if the ref's report will contain the exact details of the exchange.

I can't really believe that all Neil said is what Mowbray said given Neil's clearly talking a lot more than it takes to say that in the video.

So everyone is lying?

Again, how does anyone communicate with a referee from 15- 20 yards without moving, pointing to an instance, or raising their voice to be heard?

The ref seems to have a problem with him walking in his direction (something happens numerous times in every game across the planet). He’s also a CM who has to move in that direction anyway for the goal kick. He seems to tell him to walk over to the wing for some reason, and he’s already in a wide area of the pitch after covering, so are we now saying refs can tell players where to be positioned on the pitch for dead balls?

Or is the yellow for saying the word ‘f***ing’ because that’s an incredible bar to set and would have meant the game and every other game in the country being abandoned yesterday as one team wouldn’t have been able to field enough players after reds for it to carry on.

And to highlight the complete farce this is all framed perfectly as it all happens while Hume runs at the linesman going berserk at him but the ref, nor the lineman in the firing line bats an eyelid.

Who is everyone who is lying?

Did you watch the video I linked to, mainly from 48 seconds. Like I said, it certainly looks like Neil's said a little more than "That's a f***ing foul" along with some head movements (emphasising what he's saying?). I'm not sure Neil would fully admit what he said as that would heap a shit load of blame on him and Mowbray can only go by what Neil's told can't he?

But what does 'it' amount to. People don't think hard enough about this.

Is going to the ref 'I barely touched him' classed as dissent?

Where does a word in the refs direction become dissent?
Whatever a player says to a referee sfter a decision, he's not going to change his mind. He's made a decision and that is it.
Maybe the Captain might have a word, but the players are wasting their breath.
Players are generally "grandstanding" when they have a pop at the ref anyway.
Accept the decision, or if you choose to have a pop, don't be surprised if you get booked.

Ah so it’s his head movements now. Dear me.

I'm still absolutely staggered he was given a second yellow for it. Baffling decision, especially as its not something thats even insulting him in any way. There'll not a red card given for that again all season, ref is a precious berk who needs to get over himself. Say what you want about the second half but it simply doesn't happen 11v11.

I don’t agree tbh - I think he could have been sent off but not necessarily. Yellow wasn’t wrong. Doubt VAR would have Over-turned the decision for example.

There will be inconsistencies given it’s not scientific- you’ve got to hope that ref inconsistencies won’t decide a game. It did yesterday. That’s on the ref

Agree that 11 v 11 it's a different game.

DN should still have kept his gob shut imo.

OK so why doesn't the ref have to come out and explain his decision. These guys are well paid professionals . Bottom line we as fans paid a lot of money to watch this game, not to mention sky viewers, and that decision ruined what up infill then had been a cracking game

Mowbray came out and said the ref made a big song and dance pre game about understanding he needed to ref the game empathetically and then he goes and does that. Again, I'd agree with you if Neil has put some verbal abuse his way but given what hes actually said its a farcical decision given the emotion of the game - two local teams in front of 46000 people.

Refs are never actually held to task so its a total waste of time, but he is the one responsible for the balance of the game tilting so heavily against us over something so pathetically trivial.

See him send Lemina off last season?

Did DN show dissent?

If he swore at the ref, then he did.

Really struggling with people not getting that.

Ok, the ref was inconsistent, but they shouldn't have to explain decisions they make.

Refs across the game, at every level, are being abused everytime they go out.
Without a ref, there is no game, and there are less and less people want to do it every season.

Ref yesterday had a bad game, but he booked DN for dissent, which Neil clearly did.

"I'm a Premier League referee and no player from this shit little league is going to swear in my presence. I shouldn't be here in the first place"

I’d be angry with the player for being dumb for mouthing off when he’s already on a yellow yes, but not the ref

'Thats a f***ing foul'

I'd put decent money on that being the first time in the history of the game a player has been given a second yellow for saying that. Its a shocker of a decision and unfortunately for us you took full advantage.

You lot complained about Fry's red last season ffs when he took Stewart down when he was clean through!
Got wiped out in a similar position. Ball goes out for goal kick down same end of pitch. Two players run towards the ref to remonstrate. Lemina walks towards him from 15 yards away and is sent off.

Jesus Christ its embarrassing as fuck.
