Forthcoming gigs.

I like them like. Would’ve went if I wasn’t double booked.
Aye, they're canny. I went without knowing much about them tbf. Mate of a mate was going on about how good they were and I tagged along with a crowd of people, as much for a night out with live music. Had played a few songs on Spotify months earlier when I got ticket but that was it. Quite impressed with them live, like. Been listening to a few other bands on the YouTube channel of their label, Spirit of Spike Island. Lot of retro Manchester/Roses and Britpop influences but nowt wrong with that for me. Vega Rally and Afflecks Palace are other good bands on the label
Yeah i read the stuff he was saying about Strummer..just no need..it’s hard to find any bands back then who he’s got anything nice to say about them.

There’s always been a bit conflict but the Pistol show and the court case has kind of got everything out in the open..i read an interview with Glen Matlock and he said the last time they toured that himself..Cook and Jones would travel separately from Lydon to all the gigs..separate planes..coaches.
Think I read same thing in Jonesy's book Lonely Boy. He said the 96 comeback tour was ok but Lydon got harder to work with over the next few years and the rest of them would travel to gigs separately. Then it reached the point where enough was enough for him.

It's a funny one for me with Lydon. Great as the original Pistols and NMTB are/were and I've always had time for some of what he says, he's very dismissive of a lot of other music which was an obvious influence (despite what he says) or was relevant at the time. As most of the surviving Pistols have had books out, suppose it depends which version of events you choose to believe

Never heard of Vega Rally, will try them. Afflecks Palace are canny. They’re one of the Roses tribute bands doing their own gear.

Mustn’t have heard of Pastel before that Independent gig, as I’d have been aware they were on.

Vega Rally don't have much recorded yet but well worth a listen. There's a Spotify playlist for Spirit of Spike Island artists which has most of their released tracks on. Think I'll check out them and Afflecks Palace next time they play up here

The independent gig was a spirit of spike Island showcase. Vega rally on first, then pastel, then afflecksPalace. Vega rally is brilliant. Just a young kid with a guitar and some beats. Makes a great noise. Afflecks Palace were headlining, but they were the worst band for me. Not my cup of tea. Pastel were great for the few songs they did. The big drummer is class. They were lovely lads as well, coming in the crowd and having a chat to everyone. They were getting on it, as it was the last night of the tour.

Aye I quite like Vega Rally, the little I've heard. Only about 4 tracks on YouTube but good, bit early Charlatans sounding on a couple. Would go and see him

Booking up to see Alabama 3 at Newcastle Uni. Last time I seen em was boiler shop. Mint gig but claimed my covid virginity.... 😂
I’m going there like. Bit gutted now cos I’ll see them at Northern Kin anyhow & now Antony Szmerick is playing the same night as Newcastle Uni. Tickets have already been purchased apparently

Coach Party (support from Girl Scout and Fiona Lee) @ The Cluny

Canny little bratty indie-rock 4-piece, touring off the back of supporting QOTSA (!)

Would like to hear a full set from Fiona Lee - was really impressed with her raw, solo set. Completely new to me, very good voice.

Girl Scout were your typical American indie-rock.
