Prem Update

Yeah, I thought they might as well. It's been an odd start to the season for them, A good point at Forest and they couldn't have expected much different at home to City but the other home games have been poor.
A bit like Forest did last season, I think they’ll grow into it, improve once they get a result or two and I reckon he’ll keep them up. Just. I think Kompany is the real deal. Sadly for Sheffield United and Luton. No chance. Just fodder to be destroyed.

Is this the way forward though ? ? ? Get a load of good loans with no chance of keeping them ... Get promoted and not spend too much, get twatted regularly and back down with £100 million to try again in a year ?

It might not be for us but it might be their way forward. TBH. I thought they'd sign Tella who was a perfect fit for them. Chelsea rate Maatsen but he's a fringe player for them this season.

We seem to be a bit more discerning with loan deals than other clubs. That may need to change when we get promoted.

I thought one of them might give it a go but that relied on their opening games.
Good chance to get something tomorrow.

Wolves are one of the teams they need to be beating. Luton have Wolves, Everton and Burnley as their next three (Burnley being the game in hand). 5 points plus and things start to look a little different.

Pity those three teams will be thinking Luton "finally, our chance of a win" 🤔

13 games played by the promoted sides so far and not a single win and 2 pts won between them. Probably the worst start of newly promoted clubs in the history of the premier league.

Makes you wonder how we would have got on and how different our summer business would have been.

Definitely at least a year too soon for us but I think we could have caused more problems for teams.

I don't think Burnley used the transfer window well in terms of signing their successful loanees. They got Beyer, which is good and Obafemi, who was a bit part player, but Maatsen is back at Chelsea, Tella is at Leverkusen and Harwood-Bellis needs to be performing miracles at Southampton. Tella and Maatsen are massive misses.
When they came in for Clarke I was thinking he would be gone. I thought they were coming in low just to test the water before upping their bid massively to make sure they got him. Instead they kept around their shitty little valuation of him, and for that I'm bloody over the moon.

Imagine if the Tory spiv been in charge hedve had Clarke bags packed for & drove him to Burnley

I'd be interested to see how we would deal with going up. How far would we push our wage structure? How much would we budget for transfers? We seem pretty well prepared for different scenarios so it will already be planned for, but would we stick or twist?

Didn’t speakman say we had two budgets

one if we went up

2 if we stayed in the championship

Thank god them 2 arse boils are gone Hank. They would have advertised him on E Bay never mind touting him to other clubs. Charlie would them have come out and said it's helped our seller rating and we are moving in the right direction.

Aye but we have obviously only seen the one with us in the championship. I just wonder what we would do if we gan up and how far we would push it.

I'm pretty confident of what they would do but it's hard to tell as they obviously have limits to each scenario and stick rigidly to it. Hence why we didn't offer Stewart more (I was fuming at the time, but it seems to have worked out ok for us) but we have nailed down a few players to new contracts so they are offering what the players agree in general.
