Sunderland have started well but how many times have Mowbray teams imploded 2nd half of the season.

31 points first 23 games last season , 38 points in the 2nd part of the season , without a striker. Would probably have been more if he could have fielded a defence in the last few games as well.

It’s a different club he is at. Managers learn as well over time. Maybe at his other clubs he has had key men sold in the January window ?

The main thing is the footballs good , the players and fans are as one , we look forward to young players developing. It has felt united in the last year , more so than at any time in the last 20 years really.

I think Boro are likely to be midtable. But I can't see it for Sunderland.

We are fundamentally mint - don't think the division or even some of our fans appreciate this yet. We may have the odd set back, and the basic teams will try to rough us up, but we'll bounce up twirling and prancing.

Haven't really seen much of you this season, I've only watched the Southampton game and can't deny you were impressive.

Maybe I'm placing too much emphasis on Mowbray's past track record and thinking that the same thing will happen this season. We'll just have to see.

Not to mention the squad he had for his first full season at Boro is lightyears behind our current squad. We managed to bring Patrick Roberts, Alex Pritchard, Semedo and Aouchiche off the bench on Saturday.

I actually fancied you to push for the play-offs last season, even before a ball was kicked.

Down here in Guisborough. The Boro fans are saying it all messed up when Boro rested players before the play offs.

Think it's a bit of a myth. We rested key players for the Luton game but we put out more or less our strongest team for the other two league games, and the play-offs of course. Maybe losing at Luton did kill our momentum but I'm not so sure.

Having seen QPR in person I’d say that result in particular is far from ideal for the boro, this league is a mad house at the best of times but I’d be very surprised if they don’t go down.

I’ve been on numerous message boards throughout the years, usually when another club is in meltdown to see what’s being said.

The SMB is far and away the best in terms of interface and usability. There’s some absolute horrors about.

Achieving a 6th placed finish without a striker and a powder puff/lightweight mid-field & defence for much of that season - we were bullied/steam rollered regularly (and mainly at home) by some atrocious clogger sides - it was a bloody miracle.

I've been predicting you will implode this season. You've made a strong start but it won't surprise me if your form tails off later on in the season.

Used to be my local actually when I lived on Auckland street but haven't been in in years.

Thing is it’s not his football strategy at Sunderland. He has to work with what he’s given. Dare I say our recruitment team are better at recruit the right players to fit the longer term strategy than any manager, not just Mowbray. Maybe what we are finding out here is just how good a head coach TM could have been if that’s all he had to concentrate on.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a ‘Manager’ at SAFC seemingly able to maintain momentum with a team that has so many changes. At a different level it’s like watching Man City swopping and changing seamlessly.

What we have here now is all about the longer term sustainability of the team and its performance.

Most clubs but particularly Boro under Gibson have purchased players for the here and now, largely driven by what the manager needs to stay in a job this week or to capture the fans imagination.
