The mags are claiming Durham CC now

It's a very sensible definition from a man with extensive knowledge of the area's history. Too many people trying to conflate Geordie and Mag. It was never an issue before Hall started lying about the "Geordie Nation". When I was growing up. the south bank was at least 50/50 between the clubs from Hebburn eastwards. As far as I'm concerned, i'm a Geordie, but calling me a Mag is libellous.
Some of the most passionate MLF's I've met are proud Geordies, wouldn't call themselves anything else and most have nothing but contempt for the mags.

I totally understand and agree about John Hall's "Jawdee Nashun" bullshit been at the root of this. I deliberately spell it so, to differentiate between Geordies, some of whom are class and MLF, and the bandwagon jumping shitehawks who believe everyone in the NE is a nufc loving whopper. Co.Durham mags being the worst example of Jawdees.
Chris needs his hardrive checking
Is he even supposed to be on the Internet? Sure the register has terms and conditions. 🤣

This forum living in a dream world. Said for ages County Durham is majority mag, and chester le street is 90% mag. Got laughed at on here. Now the Durham cricket teams singing mag songs. One day people will realise that Durham is a mag stronghold.
I live in County Durham and.beg to differ. Buses from all over the county for SAFC home games but not for them. Where are you based?

They sang it when they won their last 50 over trophy at Lord's on an overcast late September Saturday. I was a tad taken aback but Durham is Durham. Not mackem, not mag -Durham.
And, iirc, the majority of fans didn't join in. Think it was Mark Stoneman who chose it when he was captain.

There's both Mackems and Geordies in what is traditionally County Durham.
The song was written by a Geordie from County Durham, about a horse race in County Durham
There's even some smoggies at the southern end of the county! The whole county, individual towns and villages and even families have divided loyalties.

It isn't. Scott Dobson defined a Geordie as someone born within one mile of either side of the Tyne from the mouth as far west as Wylam. That includes the south bank, which is in, er, Durham (or was when I was born in South Shields, and thus a Geordie).
No idea who Scot Dobson is and on what authority he speaks on this issue but I've never ever heard anyone, or read anywhere, in recent times describe anyone from Durham as a Geordie.....
