Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

Don't be silly. People aren't saying he's shit. The facts are he was brilliant for us but sustained two serious injuries last year. With his physique his future injury record simply has to be a worry. There are many players of similar physique - Andy Carroll, Mark Hateley, Duncan Ferguson - all long limbed - who succumbed to regular injuries in the their later 20's. Everyone would have been chuffed to keep him but, if we had, we'd all be worried about him being able to achieve fitness and stay fit. For that reason getting a fee of £10M for Ross, with one year left, is a great deal for us and only possible because the Saints are awash with money. But, no, he's not suddenly shit and no one is saying he is.
Best post this week.

Our fans acting as if we won cos yeah we sold stewart but its okay we got some academy kid from chelsea

Ive seen people say its a good window ? Same people who put money on hemir top scorer i take it ? Maybe for safc u21s

'..some academy kid from Chelsea..'

He's made 2 sub appearances for Chelsea in the Prem in the last 10 days against WHU and Luton.

They must think he's shite and won't be able to hack it in '..a mans game...'

I’ve said it countless times. I think it’s because we have a proportionally older fanbase. Our fans are still living pre 1990 in football terms. They love players who are tenacious and fly about the pitch (like Gooch, Watmore, etc) but can’t seem to understand technical players.
This why the likes of Neil get slated and then people are amazed when Liverpool are watching him

Conversely marra, you young lads love players who have a high potential rating on fifa manager mode and rate them far above what they are
Ross stewart is 10x more 'technical' than someone whos 25 and hit double figures once in the ukraine league? Or a kid from chelsea whos scored what 2 league one goals in his career to date ? But hes young so he must be good, by the time he gets upto speed for mens football his loan will be over and back to parent club !

It’s about realism though. Good players at this stage will not stay at Sunderland so we need to be constantly bringing new ones through. I thought Stewart was excellent but as shown he didn’t want to be here and we were forced to sell albeit for an astonishing fee in the circumstances

A middle ground between 3 unproven kids + someone from a poor league and 10 million £ strikers though marra
some on here dont want to hear it, couldve done with someone like Sam Gallagher leading the line till Hemir develops more

Well said, but where has the fee been confirmed ?
