Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

Massive loss.

I get they’ve been a PL club for the last few years but it still hurts having players thinking they are a better option than us.

Guess it’s how far we’ve fallen and how far we still have to go.

I've forgotten what he looked like with football boots on. Good deal for us in the end although was panicking when it took so long. He's had 3 long-term injuries now and doubt he will stay fit.

He's held the club to ransom for the last 12 months, and has obviously (to everyone) wanted to leave.

Should the club just throw money at him (and break the clubs wage structure) on a crock?
just funny our fans seem happy with losing the best striker in the league (by our own admission) and replacing him with some unproven kids who should be playing for our u21 team not our mens team !

We’ll find out if the club should have retained him, when we see if Hemir, Rusyn or Mayenda are up to the job of replacing him,

The proof of the pudding will be in the goals.

i reckon he wont get injured and will score more than all of our 4 unproven kids combined
You could be right….but who cares.
If he wanted out and the club couldn’t sort a contract with him then there is nowt we can do.
I personally think it’s outstanding business from the club whichever way you look at it.

Very much a "don't let the door hit you on the arse" goodbye that.

I think we have done incredibly well to not have our pants pulled down by a player who could be a flash in the pan with an awful injury record, and bring in a fairly handsome profit to reinvest.

More of the same please.

Out - a permanently injured, wantaway player with 8 months of contract left, for a large fee.

In - A striker with a better pedigree than Stewart had when he joined, and 3 younger strikers.
Younger = better even though never scored goals in mens football before ?

replacing the best striker in the league with someone whos barely performed at league one level man

The main reason we’re playing championship football (I know plenty contributed but his goals and performances were exceptional).
Good luck to the kid. Good bit of business to get the fee we did given his refusal to sign a new contract, injuries etc. His efforts on the pitch were always excellent but we’ve gone more than half a season without him.
We move on with a large profit on the lad. When was the last time we made a profit like this on a player bought in? We’re moving in the right direction and let’s get behind the lads who’ve come in!

I'm not happy that Ross had a bad, possibly career altering injury. I'm not happy that he wanted away from the club. I'm not happy that a big club offering big money came in for him in the dying hours of the transfer window. I'm not happy about any of that. Unfortunately, not being happy about it doesn't change the reality of the situation. Ultimately, we had to negotiate the best deal for both us and Ross. So with all that in mind, I think the club have managed what was probably the most favourable outcome we could have got, or at the very least close to it. Nothing to really twist over.
