There are three parties involved in this. Each will be potentially briefing different things.
I’d put money on him signing
He picked up one having a shot in a warm up and was out for 3 monthsIs it possible to pick up a new injury during a medical ?
I find it strange that RS is generally accepted as one of the best no 9s in the league when fit yet he’s never had a kick for Scotland ahead of Che Adams and Lyndon Dykes.can't believe any premier league club want Che Adams like christ
An injured player who’s due back this month, with us in a better position to negotiate his contract.
The streak of piss can stay down there for meWould love a poll, at this stage of the transfer do you want Stewart back or not
He cant stay like
Really hope it gets done
It would be shite for us financially but it would be funny seeing someone who has pissed us about until the last possible moment being stuck in limboIf it doesn’t go through, he is fucked really. He will be 3 or 4th choice with little chance of football.
Even if he is fit by January, clubs are hardly going to be fighting over someone that has hardly kicked a ball in a year
He’s only started 10 games in this leagueI find it strange that RS is generally accepted as one of the best no 9s in the league when fit yet he’s never had a kick for Scotland ahead of Che Adams and Lyndon Dykes.![]()
He had only proven himself as a league one footballer at a time when Adams and dykes were performing well at least one league above that. Stewart then started scoring goals in the championship, got recognised by Scotland and then got injured so couldn't shift Adams or Dykes while he had a serious injury. Quite straightforward really.I find it strange that RS is generally accepted as one of the best no 9s in the league when fit yet he’s never had a kick for Scotland ahead of Che Adams and Lyndon Dykes.![]()
To be fair, I don’t really disagree with any of that. Not sure how we'd be in a more favourable position at all.
If he doesn't go today it's all but confirmed we won't get a fee for him unless he signs a new contract. It's still a massive risk to offer him a new contract as his injury could easily be reoccuring. I doubt we'll be in a rush to offer him any sort of contract and I doubt he'd be in a rush to accept given he knows he can get better elsewhere.
There's no guarantee he'll even be the same player after barely playing football for a year, so if he doesn't get injured is he still going to perform as well?
He's also had his head set on moving clubs - does he even want to be here? Will he have the same the same standards/workrate as he did previously if he's not arsed?
That's purely focusing on Stewart too, nevermind the other transfers that it could effect if the deal doesn't go through.
Genuinely struggling to see the positive. Missed out on £10m and have a potentially injury prone player that potentially doesn't want to be here. Might have missed out on other transfers that the fee could have been used for.
They did that in 1985 with Big LawrieGot to be a negotiation tactic…..whilst trying to fuck us.
