Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

Wonder if he gets the Darren Bent treatment on his return.

Why would he? He’s 27. This is probably the key contract of his career.

A club with ambitions to play in the premier league has offered him his worth.

In what world would he then choose to earn mediocre money, and spend his days handing out little bottles of milk at training for Sunderland Association Football Crèche?!

He’s made the same decision that any ambitious, self respecting professional would make.

Plenty teams uncover players for relative peanuts and make massive profits all the time. If you want to be an eternal pessimist then that's up to you.

My point is more that the model is not to then buy a player who is currently better than Stewart, but a better young player than we've previously bought, who has the potential to he better than RS.

If that indeed is the model, that means we’ll be consistently weakening our current squad in the hope that players come good further down the line. That’s not a recipe for promotion mind.

We need two players to come in now and replace what Amad and Stewart brought to us. If we don’t, we’re in a weaker position than we were last season and that’s regression.

Or whenever he comes back to the SOL?
Bid accepted apparently, 8 million after it was clear he wouldn't sign a new contract.

Discuss.

Mixed feelings.
He was a great servant for us, and I'll always have great memories of him.
The prolonged silence over "will he, won't he?" soured things a bit.
End of the day, he's gone, we've got good money for him and I wish LND all the best except when he plays against us.

Absolutely shocking decision, we already needed 1 striker now we need 2!
Should of had someone in first if they wanted to sell him.
They have had over a year to sort it and now it goes down to the last day, absolute clowns
