Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

According to Nixon (aye anar) we're close to one and in for another, I think these will be Rusyn and Cannon. However, he says Boro are also in for Cannon and more likely to pay the higher wages, no surprise there.

So I expect we'll get Rusyn and possibly a loan at the end of the window when we've left it too little and too late with Cannon.

I’d agree, don’t know much about cannon either so I’ll hold my judgement till they play but really worried atm, bit of a pisser after last season
Statistically Cannon looks a bit of a downgrade on Stewart according to this. We are where we are though and it’s probably our best option atm. Also Stewart was probably playing on the wing in the highland league at Cannon‘s age.

Much younger than Stewart too which is a factor in Cannon’s favour.

Friday night according to Sky Sports

Summer transfer window 2023: When does it close? Dates, Deadline Day, how to follow with Sky Sports

The summer transfer window opens on Wednesday June 14 and will close at 11pm on Friday September 1;

You’re correct and I’m looking foolish
Serves me right for trying to be clever 😂

As if the medical staff are gonna go to Russell Martin...."did his tests boss and you'll never f***ing believe it but he's knacked his achilles so we had to fail him"

It’s mental how many people seem to think that medicals are in place to tell people a player, who has been out injured for nearly a year, is injured with the injury that has kept them out nearly a year.

This is gonna hurt, but it is the right thing to do. Rather get something then nothing. Not since Phillips have a I loved a striker like I love Ross :(

Absolutely love people wishing ill on a bloke who’s offered 100% for us purely because he wants a decent contract at his age. He deserves it ffs, the club unwilling to pay 25k for a player of his ability is shit man. It’s all him though, honestly man!!
If that's the case then I agree but ive been reading through the thread and havent seen much of this tbf. I think most people are simply being pragmatic and agreeing that it is a tough choice, take the money and try sort a replacement in not a lot of time, or keep him and lose him for nothing at the end of the season with question marks about his robustness and the lasting impact of a notoriously bad injury for footballers.

Offer him another £5k per week that his agent wants, costs us £520k for the next year, he scores goals for us and just might help us get into the top six with him in the side. He is then under contract worth at least £12m to £15m next summer if anyone wants to sign him.I will guarantee you TM would rather him stay, who do we get better than him for the money? It will be a joke if we pay Cannon what he and Everton want, but not RS!!

How can you not get the concept that he may simply not want to stay here and wishes to go elsewhere?

We cannot force him to sign at gunpoint if he doesn't want to. He is not playing in North Korea FFS.

You ask who could we get better for the money.

Well Piroe joined Swansea for £1m and Gyokores joined Coventry for the same price. But the thing is, you would be absolutely guaranteed to be kicking up a fuss on here if we signed a 21 year old with a 1 in 4 record in the Dutch second division like Piroe, or a 21 year old with 0 goals in 11 games in the Championship like Gyokores had before joining Coventry.

We aren't going to get promoted.

No way on earth this squad finishes above the likes of Leicester and Southampton. It isn't at that standard.
I honestly think we can. But we need two forwards, at least one has to hit the ground running. And an experienced holding midfielder, a Kavanagh type signing.

If you'd said the one we'd lose would be Stewart over Clarke, Ballard, Patterson and Roberts I think majority would've taken that. Club need to sort a replacement though, who isn't a loan.

All bullshit and guesswork on wages and figures

Yeah let’s just sell the best CF for peanuts that’s brilliant business. Let’s bring in yet another foreign kid, tell me which foreign permanent signing that we have made over that last two seasons has made any real significant contribution to the first team? We are hoping a lad from the Ukraine who isn’t an out and out CF will be the answer. Billionaire owner 40k every week and we aren’t prepared to keep the best CF we have had for a long time.
