They won't be starting the process of finding a replacement now, they'll have been looking and sounding out clubs for months

I'd agree if it was for a couple of million or if he had more time left on his deal, but £8m is too much to gamble on IMO.

When you look at Piroe who went for £12m despite having the same length of time left on his deal, being 3 years younger than Stewart and a track record of almost 100 games in this division versus Stewart's 13, £8m seems very fair and in line with the market rate.
 
Bit like the Kane situation isn't it? But Levy still managed to command a big fee. 6m is no good in the modern day market because you can't sign a player of even half of his ability for that price.

The main thing that hindered our promotion hopes in the end was the defensive injuries.

Even one of Ballard or Batth back there for the ties against Luton and we likely progress to Wembley. If both were fit, there's little doubt IMO.

To have no Ballard, Batth and Alese who obviously wasn't fit or near ready when he made an appearance for the second leg and subsequently re-injured himself as a result, was the main issue.

Of course when u take out amad and Stewart’s goals that not worried about scoring, becomes a lot less secure

We're a bit of an unbalanced mess as it stands, lots of quality in the first 11 but the composition is bizarre. I dont see it.

I'm not convinced tbh, I guess we'll get our first look at one of them this weekend. I watched Coventry miss chance after chance to put Leicester to bed in the first week and they got sucker punched. They seemed to struggle far more with us.

I mean - you can, because we did when we signed him. But your overall point is correct, for the model to work we need to make significant money on each sale.

If Stewart had been fit for the play off games we would have been at Wembley. He's no slouch defensively as well as top up front.

Is it £8m though, I just read £6.5m? I would be hoping for £10m plus personally. His scoring rate was off the charts in those 13 games and with no time left in the window we should be driving up the price or keeping hold IMO. If they want him that much they can stump up some of their parachute money.
