Russell Martin has Ross Stewart as his main target **Transfer confirmed **

Imagine believing anything Mowbray says

Within 3 days he went from a 90 minute recruitment meeting with speakman to not being involved and no clue

He said a striker was signing last week yet apparently he isn't involved
I’ve never heard so much bullshit come out of one persons mouth since Lee Johnson’s post match tactical debriefs with the media. Sometimes it’s better to just not say anything

Fuck me!! Dack a sign of ambition then? Or to appease a manager asking for experience? Honestly are you 100% happy with the way the club is being ran??
You've just said the only signings we've made have been to make profit on, which isn't totally correct is it and many have said Dack is an improvement on Pritchard. I'll wait until the window closes.

A bit of perspective?

If he is still injured how would he pass a medical? He has had a career threatening injury. Nobody knows if he will ever fully recover. 20m? Not a chance. Most probably wouldn't be covered by insurance without a massive premium paid. Would you be happy to spend an absolute fortune on a player in the same situation?

And if you don't sell him this window the chance of selling him will be gone.

New contract? Extra 5k a week? Would that put him on 20k a week? Over 3m for 3 years. What if he doesn’t recover fully?

He's back or almost on the grass iirc, so not actually injured but not actually fit. As for his recovery and the level he'll be at - could go either way, he might also come back the best striker in the division.

Clearly there's no chance of getting 20m. There probably little chance of getting 10m.

What's the point of taking 5m for someone who was probably one of the best two forwards in the division last season, when you are desperately lacking forward players and you're shanking 1m to 1.7m here and there on teenagers who aren't close to being ready and any decent loan might cost you over a million anyway?

I'd rather keep him for the season and see how it pans out with injuries and form etc because there's not enough value in him at the moment to sell.

If you could get 10m then maybe it's a different story, but we are so lacking in forwards and have been for sometime - why would you sell for such a low amount?

For what I realistically expect us to get for him id rather keep him and play him. Hopefully he scores goals and if he decides to leave so be it. Much easier to bed in other strikers with less pressure. On the flip side we may convince him to stay / give him an offer that makes him want to stay

I get your point. But......

He plays this season. Leaves for free.

You get 5m for him. Buy a decent DM and striker on 3 year contracts.

We just sold the best striker and best midfielder in this division. Could have kept them and lost them for nothing. We're not a rich club. But we have strengthened the whole squad and have 15m left. I would have loved to have kept them and given promotion another go. But 12 months later lose them for nothing and taken the risk that they wouldn't have given 100% or them getting injured.

 reet whose alter ego is this?
Even without that information I was just about to say that why would a team that will really be almost be demanding promotion be gambling on their number 1 target being an injured player. Would be a huge risk for them

So the clubs a joke because someone wants to buy one of our players
No the clubs a joke because it wont offer one of our most important players what he’s worth and is looking to cash in for any money it can get for him and replace him with incompetent shite!! Pay the man what he is worth and stop f***ing around!!

No easily solution to the Ross Stewart situation.

Only 10 months left on his contract so you risk losing him for nothing but if you do agree a new contract there is no guarantees he'll ever be the same player he was before injury. If we were to sell now I reckon we'd get about £5m which would be massively under his value

He might also play this season and get 15 to 20 goals.goals which gets us much further up the league and progresses us and makes us a more attractive proposition. It might mean we also can demand a similar fee in January anyway if he hits some kind of form.

5m isn't enough given what he potentially could give us when fit for a player of his quality. There is, as always, a risk because of his injury but then there's also a risk with any transfer.

I also doubt we'll be signing another dm given we've still got Evans and Matete on the books and had a 'decent striker ' that fits the 'model' been available for that kind of amount I would have hoped we'd be in for him anyway given what our DoF said on the Lihadji to Qatar sale "it’s a transfer that will also create immediate opportunities for us in the market" back at the start of August.....

Usually I'd agree but £10m is kinda fuck all to Southampton at the minute, especially if Martin has Stewart as his top target.

Southampton must have received close to £100m in transfer fees this summer. Then there is the parachute payments.
I know what you are saying but I still don’t think they would pay that mate, Leeds have just paid 8m for piroe and he’s been fit and firing for 2 years. Why would Southampton give us 10 for someone who’s been crocked for nigh on a year! If Stewart had been fit then 100% worth that!
