In this case is easy to see that justice was manipulated not because he was smart not because it didn’t happen, but because he’s got enough money to buy himself out of it, and the club want to make money off the back of him.
look at it this was if it was your daughter that a player did this too would you want him getting off relatively Scott free? The whole thing stinks to high heaven, and I really can’t see why a club which is supposed to represent its supporters could put money above any sort of justice

According to Somme on here he’s innocent as the day is long, mind I suppose paying off the prime witness did help smooth the way, but that would be pure conjecture

There is a space between being criminally guilty and the point where the lack of humanity and/or decency means that anyone within that space should not be entertained in football. I’d include Marcos Alonso in that space as well as that guy Lee ?? (played for Notts County) in that for example. For me there would be no way back.

If these guys want to be plumbers and out of the public eye, of course that’s fine - nobody should be denied the opportunity to make a living.

I know if I was wrongly accused of something like that, there's not a hells chance I'd get back. The only things I can think of that make sense is either he's massively controlling her, or she's blackmailing him to keep her in a lifestyle to keep him out of jail. Either way, on the balance of probability it makes him look more guilty.

But just to play devil's advocate, not to defend Greenwood (as I think he did it) but to slightly defend those defending him.

If you go back the Ched Evans case, the conviction was clearly dodgy as owt, but many on here got labelled rape sympathisers for questioning the conviction. The complaint wasn't made by the lass who didn't know what happened but by hotel staff. The CPS still went ahead anyway.
In this case the CPS have dropped it, so it's understandable why some might have reservations.

Evans retrial was a joke. It was like going back 30 years. Guys a scumbag, granted less so than Greenwood but should never have been quashed and should never been allowed to play football again

I can't see a way back from him, might be a bit hypocritical coming from a Newcastle fan but I haven't being wax lyrical about our owners but haven't spoke out about them either.

The first sentence might be hypocritical for a Newcastle fan 😉, but I don't think the main point is.

All things being equal, there should be no place in football for Greenwood or your owners. But I think your point is fair because we know there are different rules in place for garden variety scumbags like Greenwood or Johnson, who are pretty dispensable, and the protected, connected kind like your owners, royals and the various nonces in British and American politics.

Mason Greenwood 'arrested on suspicion of breaching bail conditions ​

The Manchester United player, 21, is on bail after his arrest in February on suspicion of rape, assault and making threats to kill.

POLICE are looking into claims Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood breached bail conditions by paying for designer clothing for his alleged sex victim.

It is claimed the woman had access to his bank account — despite being due to give evidence at the player’s trial.

Greenwood’s lawyer, David Toal, admitted the breach had taken place, saying: “I absolutely concede it is his responsibility to abide by all bail conditions imposed.” He also added: “Contact has occurred for many months" but maintained it was “no secret” to Greater Manchester Police.

District Judge Mark Hadfield responded by saying: “What I am being told is the defendant flagrantly breached the conditions over weeks or even months and police haven’t done anything about it.”

If I had a daughter and she had been abused he wouldn't walk away from his consequences. Mind, I believe he father is complicit in something I read in the papers last week.

Manchester United has concluded its internal investigation into the allegations made against Mason Greenwood.

Our process commenced in February 2023, following all charges against Mason being dropped. Throughout, we have taken into account the wishes, rights and perspective of the alleged victim along with the club’s standards and values, and sought to collate as much information and context as possible. This has required us to proceed with sensitivity and care to obtain evidence not in the public domain, including from those with direct knowledge of the case.

Based on the evidence available to us, we have concluded that the material posted online did not provide a full picture and that Mason did not commit the offences in respect of which he was originally charged. That said, as Mason publicly acknowledges today, he has made mistakes which he is taking responsibility for.

All those involved, including Mason, recognise the difficulties with him recommencing his career at Manchester United. It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.
