As much as you wanted to play devil's advocate, give the benefit of the doubt etc. not to mention look at the former book value of the asset versus the valuation now, as CEO of the club, all answers surely should immediately arrive at "we just can't bring him back".
 
But the woman is now pregnant from him so everyone should not jump to conclusions; we don't know the context or facts behind the case that was dropped and the speculation is not good for any party.

She's had a baby with him.

There's enough context with the audio that's out there in the public domain to establish what he did. Why don't you give it a listen and see if you still feel the same way.
 
I wonder whether this is all just engineered to protect the value of a saleable asset before an inevitable transfer to Saudi.

Obviously a backlash will ensue (and rightly so), and Arnold has probably already agreed to be the scapegoat with a nice pay off in his pocket.
