Sunderland music thread

God knows how many times my mam and dad have seen him at The Sky Lounge.
Aye, that seems to be his residency. Me and sput asked him to play a la's song that wasnt there she goes last time we were in there, and he played son of a gun. Can play pretty much anything really, although when he plays an erasure song it goes down best in Washy. His da hughie is a proper character. Great bloke ,used to live in my square in barmston.

Didn't even get a notification I'd been tagged here.

Any idea mods?

Got my ticket sorted for Tom Smith at the fire station in December, should be a good gig

I mean, you could pick anything off the record & it’d be amazing, but Son of a Gun

Putting the La’s on now for my shower disco cos of this post.

I always used to get them. Doesn’t work anymore. Get alerts when the threads bumped, but if you miss the first one you’re just hoping it’s on the first page somewhere.

Looks like it's Panic Report for me tonight.

Interesting bit from Attila The Stockbroker's report on the Rebellion Festival.

An amazing bunch of memories unleashed for me on Day 2.

After a brisk cycle ride along the seafront and lunch at Compass Cafe Bar (gig confirmed there for Friday November 3rd) it was time for my first band of the day - the mighty @Red London, Sunderland’s finest.

In 1982 I reviewed them for Sounds magazine and was so impressed that I blagged them a record deal and produced their first single. 41 years later singer Patty Smith’s voice (and stage presence) is as powerful as ever and they did their biggest ever show here, in the Empress Ballroom no less, in tribute to Steve, Patty’s brother and singer of Sunderland’s Red Alert, who sadly passed away a year ago. Brilliant and very moving.
