Bid rejected for Clarke

Same here mate. Even if we did go for a deal like that, clubs would know we had money in the bank and every £3m player would suddenly be £5m+. I don't see that suiting the sustainability model at all.
We'd likely be left with a poorer player who cost more than Clarke.

That's Stewart Donald economics.

Tricky one. Brentford had this problem to contend with.

20m’s plus dele on loan for a full season is a good shout as we know Clarke wants prem life now. Anyone who questions that he doesn’t want prem life now is bonkers.

Sky Sports is reporting that Everton and Fulham have "a verbal agreement" in place to transfer Demarai Gray but the move is on hold until a replacement is brought in. I immediately thought of Jack Clarke with Tom Cannon being used as a make weight in a possible deal.
Very unlikely we would allow clarke to go for anything less than 20 mil. Allegedly Everton value cannon at atleast 10 mil. No chance we swap clarke for us to sign a 2nd/3rd choice striker and and miss out on the transfer income clarke would bring in to strengthen the front line for less expenditure

He had it at Tottenham and his agent has come out twice saying he's settled here.

Everton would be one of the last on my list if I were him. Dyche would have him playing as a second full back and I can see them really struggling this season.

Didn't realise Cannon was valued so highly by Everton and so, in the scenario you have outlined, I agree that we would not deal on those terms. Given some of the prices that are being quoted and paid for players in this vastly inflated transfer market, we should stick to our guns and hold out for the best possible price for Clarke such is his importance to the team. I only hope that his head hasn't been turned by all the speculation in the media about his future and that he's fit and firing and ready to go on Sunday. These derisory offers being made by the likes of Burnley are insulting in the extreme and have rightly been rebuffed.

Think we might be disappointed in the fee if it’s a player / cash deal with Everton. They value Cannon around 9/10M so I can imagine the money won’t be anything over £5M which is pitiful. We could always just send Cannon’s left arm to spurs though to cover Clarke’s sell on fee.

Cash plus player would get us around the sell-on to an extent. However it’d probably make spurs a lot less keen to work with us in future too.

If he is valued so highly, then why hasn't he been playing regularly for them?

Why would he goto any of them when there is a good chance we will be swapping divisions next season anyway we will pass them on the way up it would be prem league for 1 season
