Stuart Broad retires

I fear you maybe right. I can see test cricket becoming a lost cause in a few years
Even if it doesn’t it’ll get diluted through t20/hundred cricket. To achieve figures like they’ve had it’ll take someone to dedicate themselves to test cricket at the expense of the other riches on offer and I just can’t see that happening.

Not if this England set up has got anything to do with it marra.
They are single handedly saving Test cricket. And I believe Stokes commitment to it will go way beyond his playing days.
Broad and others will join him in that.
The last couple of years of England Test cricket equals or exceeds the excitement and fun of any T20 or 50 overs cricket.

I'm so proud to say I was there that day for his 600th wicket, and I'm genuinely gutted to have heard his decision almost emotional, I understand it with his young family but he's rarely injured and still has the aussies rattled, he'l forever be one of my favourite England bowlers since I fell in love with the game early 90's, which is funny because when he 1st became a regular in the test squad I couldn't stand him because of the amount of times I'd hear he was freddie Flintoffs replacement and I love freddie, but broad with that cherry in his hand when he produces those spells he can oh what a sight, enjoy retirement broady but get the bugger coaching our younguns

Probably like others, his petulance took a bit of warming to in his younger days but he’s been my favourite England cricketer of recent years, as much down to his spiky personality as anything else!

A great bowler, and for all the Aussies hate him, they all know there’s two reasons why - due to how good he is and that he’s very Australian in terms of his competitiveness and will to win.

He’s probably packed it in knowing that as Warner was going soon, he’d only get half as many wickets.

I also find it quite ironic that after years of people doubting his place, he retires when his place in my view is more secure than ever. He’s been our best bowler for three years.

I shall miss him, a true great and character.

Test cricket is becoming increasingly based around holidays, certainly from an English perspective.
