CC : Derbyshire vs Durham

Nine Down and five to play. After our excellent win in three days against Gloucs where we really showed our mettle we now travel to Derby for our next game commencing Wednesday.

We currently stand 47 points clear of second placed Leics and 49 ahead of third placed Sussex. Our opponents are currently bottom having drawn five and lost three of their eight games - one of which was at the Riverside at the end of April when we won by an innings and seven runs with centuries for Robinson and Carse and Potts and Raine taking eight wickets and six wickets respectively.

Du Plooy seems to do quite well against us and warmed up for our visit with a century against Sussex in their last game when they went damned close to chasing down 380. Apparantly he may be off to Middlesex next year. With the exception of Sam Conners they also seem to have a completely different bowling attack from the one that played in April.

As for us? - well provided there's no last minute call up for Pottsy dare I suggest we may have the same line up for two games in a row?

Long range forecast seems to suggest a continuation of the changeable weather for a ground that is almost as cold as Gateshead Fell.

As ever - Haway The Lads and let's make it win number six!!

Bad enough yesterday choosing the 'Most Disliked Sports Teams/Individuals in alphabetical order'.

A.....Australia Cricket/Argentina/Lance Armstong.
S..... Steve Smith/Shearer/Springboks/Surrey

i just have an ambivalent/apathetic general dislike of everyone equally

I’ve just been looking at last years Division 2 table and Middlesex were promoted with six wins. A couple more decent results before the break for the one day cup and we should be just about promoted.

Du Plooy is the leading run scorer in the country currently with 979.
The bet thing about Derbyshire is their BBC commentator Dave Fletcher, lugubrious is the word I think. The highlight is the way he gently takes the piss out of Marty and I'm not even sure Marty notices.

I think Marty gets it, he just plays up to/along with it

I always get the Daves Fletcher and Bracegirdle confused.

Still up in the air if Carsey will play. He wasn’t supposed to play the last game but England reluctantly allowed him to play as the 4th seamer. It’s not a definite though so hopefully we’re unchanged.

Hopefully unchanged but de Leede would be an acceptable replacement.

For the next three days it appears Derby is going to be getting better weather than we are up here...mind you that's not saying much.

I imagine a lot on the forum will be preferring to go to Scarbados the week after.

Another struggle to sell tickets to that concert by the looks of it. I had an email of a seat filler site offering tickets for £7.50 yesterday! They seemed to struggle badly to sell for Rod Stewart too!

We do always seem to be very late in announcing squads though. It’s almost as if it’s an afterthought every time.
