Major league cricket

I've no idea who is playing or what the teams are called.

A bit like my knowledge of the 16.4 really.

Not heard anything about this. Anyone decent in it?

Cricket occupies the same niche as baseball so its hard to see it taking off in the USA

Yeah loads. Lot of the teams owned by IPL owners and named as such.

Los Angeles Knight Riders and MI New York two off the top of my head.

I don't really watch much T20 so doubt I will be watching. But plenty of good players if your at all interested in watching.

Many Asian Ex pats over there so doesn't really need to catch the rest of America as be well attended anyway.

Guess they hope to pull in more of the non cricket fans alongside them I guess.

What channel will it be on

Looks like there’s only 2 stadiums . North Carolina + in Texas. That’s daft, as 3 teams are based on the west coast

Will need huge investment to take off. Major League Soccer had that and has done reasonably well but the big four, American Football, Baseball, Basketball and Ice Hockey will always be the dominant sports in the States.

Some good teams in there, The Freedom and The Unicorns look decent, I think I’ll support the Orcas though as I like watching QDK

I refuse to attend because
- the names
- no real effort to incorporate the local teams / players / culture. 90% of the ‘domestic’ players are transplants who moved here in their 20s instead of folks who have made it through the age-group system

Tbf the domestic players will be utter shite

100% agreed

But for a league that ‘wants to bring cricket to the US’ to completely ignore the population that’s being carrying the torch is just shitty.

Include the local kids, they get high level training and exposure, and who knows, maybe you even unearth some gems.

Looking at this BBC article it doesn't seem to have a lot going for it.

Watched bits of the opening game. Looks like the ground was full although this was far from the case at the start.

Nothing special though. Just another T20 tournament like all the rest.
