I get that point, and tbf to Australia they have played well and found a way.The degree of analysis available nowadays means that a way will be found pretty quickly to counteract any new method pretty quickly. The current opposition have found bazball can be nullified by the use of good class bumpers as contributors have pointed out on this thread. Logical justifiable viewpoints so why categorise them as you do in your last sentence?
And some posters have made some very valid points as yours is above.
However some of the comments on this threat quite frankly have been totally without perspective.
We have posters actually totally down playing the fact we are currently world champions in the other two formats as if they equivalent to the Johnson paint trophy!
You have others saying we have nowt to be proud off, despite taking all formats into account this is the most successful period for English cricket ever!
The balanced view is we have made some bad decisions in these last two tests when on top and take and respect that view.
But taking everything into perspective the England cricket team are currently on a run of 11 wins out of 14 tests and current world champions in the other two formats.
Without a shadow of a doubt this is the most successful period for English cricket in my lifetime not even close.
That is something to be proud of, yet all you get is constant twisting imo by certain posters.
Of course and totally take that point, but some perspective needed without a shadow of doubtI havent seen anyone suggest we go back to going at 2 an over boycott style. But surely this is a lesson that we should apply pragmatism where it’s needed? The way we've thrown our wickets away has been nothing short of a joke and that's why we're in the position we are
There is no doubt mistakes have been made in these last two test matches by England, and it’s fair for posters to point that out.The current opposition are just good. The comfortably beat India who played conventional cricket. What was also proved in this match is non bazball cricket can also be nullified by good quality bouncers. It’s probably going to be much more common way of playing with the old ball. If you leave them you can’t score a run (and you can’t always leave them), if you try and defend them you can get out, if you try and play aggressively you can score runs with risk. What’s the best approach?
But it’s far to early for posters to be jumping all over our new method of playing, as no guarantee against a very good side in Australia it would have been any different if played another way.
And it was absolutely fair enough imo for England to continue coming to this series to play the way that has brought them so much success over this last year.
I don’t mind and respect posters pointing out some failures in the last two tests as that fine and respect that.
But imo there is also some posters who have been waiting for this approach to fail so they could jump all over it and say we should be playing ‘ proper cricket’ whatever the fuck that means.
