Sub Fielders

Thinking about England here, but when did we go from using local club players as substitute fielders to lads who were picked in the squad? Has there been a rule change?

Matty Potts took a catch this morning and Rehan Ahmed fielded earlier in the game but it was always the case that the county who played at a particular venue would provide the sub fielders. Gary Pratt was an exception of course, but I also remember Karl Turner taking a catch for England in a Test at CLS and aside from that there were several instances of county youngsters fielding for England.

I’d guess that with fielding being treat a bit more seriously now, almost treat as an important discipline, they want their elite players out there.

That was why Gary Pratt kept getting picked

Just wondered if there’d been an official ruling.
