Bid rejected for Clarke

Why must they?
You'd be naive to think footballers aren't sounded out via their agents to see if they are interested.
It could be a case of him just saying "I'd listen to what you've got to offer." and Burnley backing themselves to convince him. Hopefully this is the case rather than his agent saying "he wants to play in the premier league now, come and get him."

If a bid is accepted though, he will go. He won't turn round and say no after all this.
Possibly. I’m chill about. I’m confident if he went it would be for big money. There’s no chance they bid 7m and end up paying 20m plus. I’m confident we won’t sell whether he wanted to go or not. Hardly the type to go on strike is he?

I agree with all of that. I trust the recruitment and speakman tbh.

Just hate drawn out sagas

Ha’way. It’s not like I’m sitting here thinking nobody is talking. There’s plenty of examples of bids being made and players not wanting to move or refusing.

Will Grigg never wanted to leave. Wigan were in the shit and forced it to happen.

We're probably the only club who would actively chase players who don't really want to come. Grigg, Borini, etc.

Not really, Burnley will just be confident that if a bid is accepted then he'll sign for them. Obviously the wage they'll be offering will be far more than we could offer him and would be very hard for him turn down.
The agent will be telling them that. Players don't tend to chase players who aren't interested.

Somebody from the athletic said on a pod the other day that Manchester City rarely put a bid in without knowing what all the personal terms and finances would look like.
