T20 - Durham v Yorkshire

Tonight’s pitch is number 11. Is that closer to the Trapdoor Stand?

Fairly central, but trapdoor side (if that makes sense 😁)
Hope Bushnell gets a chance tonight. We’ve been a batsman light in the T20 all campaign

I’m all for giving the younguns a game, but I’ve seen the 2nds a few times this season and sadly JB hasn’t convinced me that he is ready for the 1sts. Not that I pick the team, like 😁

(Just watch him play, score 50 and take 5 wickets 😂)

People not giving a shit about the T20 really rubs me the wrong way. I like this format and I enjoy the matches. For those of us who work it’s also easier to follow in light of shorter matches and better starting times. Don’t get why people say “oh stuff the T20 I’m off to watch proper cricket” like T20 isn’t one of the most popular and followed formats. Give over man

I can’t help the way I feel like, not just saying it for the sake of it

So many games in a short time I kind of lose track

If they were spread out more and less games think I’d be more into it

This sadly is it. I didn't get to the 2nds game at the Racecourse but from what Ive seen this season it doesn't appear I missed much. Bushnell, McKinney, Doneathy, Whitfield, Crawshaw, MacAlindon and Killeen don't seem to have progressed and in some cases they've gone backwards.

In fact the only outstanding performances I saw in the T20s was when Trev and Badger appeared.

I wonder why that is. Plenty of talent there.

I managed most of Wednesday and it was a struggle. Notts were a level above. The highlight for me was getting my 1st proper ITK opportunity asking Bryson Carse about his fitness 😀

T20 will be the saviour of cricket in this country. It’s faster, more entertaining and crucially it’s getting kids interested which means bums on seats in grounds and merchandise bought which in turn means sponsorship deals and concession spending. Without T20 I suspect cricket would have gone the way rugby has. It’s just not a viable professional sport in the main these days. I doubt DCC currently get more than 50/60k paying supporters through their gates over an entire season (excluding any internationals). There is too much competition across other sports and hospitality all vying for your £££ and your time. In todays modern world people don’t have the time or the patience for even one day cricket never mind county cricket.

T20 needs to be grown as a sport. There needs to be more games. The home games also need to be spread out so that you make the effort to go to all the games as they are only at home every other week rather than eight at home over a month or so.

This is literally what I was trying to say, thank you for taking me seriously instead of taking the piss. It needs to be grown more and I do agree we’ve had far too many games in such a short span. I think there does indeed need to be a greater number of matches for sure.

Totally agree, but on the whole I'm never that fussed with it and the club have my money up front for 5 years anyway. Plus I'm not really their target audience to be fair for this version of the game.

The scheduling this season has been absolutely hideous though and I don't see that changing anytime soon either.

Hopefully the club make a few quid tonight which for me is the main thing

4 games in 8 days was batshit. Whoever planned that should rethink next season. We could benefit from at least 5 more games to have a more enjoyable season imo. But who would we play?

I'd imagine the club asked for the 4 in 8 days as they have the concerts on soon which I believe are struggling with sales.

Really? Who’s playing, did they advertise over the last few games 😂 sometimes forget it’s cricket like at the start of the match. That’s something else they need to change on the T20. No music at the end of overs and better commentary.
