This maybe the most stupid question I a may have asked?

Why in county cricket do they state minimum overs remaining? Everyone knows that they are never going above it even if it is 5pm?

If they bowl 96 overs prior to the scheduled close of play time they continue playing until the scheduled close of play time.

The rule for the County Championship is that play ends after 96 overs have been bowled that day or 18:00 - whichever comes last.

It does happen, not too often over here or in most of the world in Tests, but in games where a lot of spin is bowled, particularly in Tests in the subcontinent it’s quite common.

Thanks for that, never understand why a game finishes at 6pm in the height of summer, surely they could do another hour or so! After this week's games a lot of players have 2 or 3 weeks off! Nice work if you can get it! FTECB!!!

A lot of players will, but some play all the formats and it’s a tough school on the county treadmill.
