The Continued Demise of TMS

Listening to Alex Hartley is painful. Thinks she's commentating on a fast-moving basketball match. Slow down and come up for air ffs.

Totally agree. I've been listening to TMS for around 40 years and she and Swann are the only ones I've had to switch off in that time. I wouldn't mind if she was on the odd game, but she seems to be one every match at the moment, including just now at The Oval.

At least Jim Maxwell is over for the summer now though.

It’s like listening to an over excited pre-pubescent little boy. It’s vomit inducing.

Atleast with Swann he’s interesting to listen to when talking about spin bowling. Hartley brings nothing to the commentary except for a desire to put my fist through the radio.

I like Vic Marks. Read a couple of his books and they were very good.

I remember one quote from a book of his where he was batting in a game very early in his career - possibly a Uni game -and was bamboozled by a spin bowler.

The next day a journalist writing about the game wrote "I don't know what Marks was reading at Oxford but it certainly wasn't leg spin". 😄

Remember the anecdote was this not a tour game with england?

I am amazed they have not signed up Bumble mind, he is desperate to be involved back in commentary and he would be perfect for the audience.

They need to understand their market, no offence but its a certain clientele who listen to TMS, Alex Hartley, even though she is a nice lass, is not what people want.

I like Tuffers, lighthearted, the odd good point, but also after smoking 50 tabs a day his voice is made for radio.

I’ve heard some tales from very good sources about why Bumble isn’t involved in commentary these days and it’s not to do with the rafiq case or health reasons.

TMS are doing a brilliant series 'How to win the Ashes', currently listening to Stokesy talking about Headingley. Great day of test cricket that.
