Bid rejected for Clarke

Why is Nixon lying?
He generally knows fuck all about Sunderland, but he does get good info at North West clubs like Burnley and Wigan.

Suspect he'll have been fed something from their end to try and lower our expectations and try to potentially create some uncertainty for Clarke.

Yes we will, this is a total myth. The owners have been clear as day from the day they walked in the building. The club will be run in a sustainable way. Buying young, cheaper players will lots of potential, developing them, selling the odd one or 2 for profit and reinvesting that in more talented youngsters. Over a few years we have a much better squad, whilst still being in a sound financial state. We WILL NOT, and rightly so in my opinion, break our wage structure for players otherwise the whole model is fucked. As soon as you break it for 1 player, others will expect the same.

I'm a big fan of the way the club is being run right now and hope it continues. If Clarke goes, I'll be gutted, but will trust the club to reinvest wisely.
Not disagreeing but how do we keep our best players if we are unable to offer comparable wages. Eventually we will have to increase our wage structure if we want to be successful and improve.

I wonder what the miserables will do if he signs a new contract next week? It's going to ruin their summer of fretting about him definitely being sold.
Always been the same with us. As soon as we do well and we have anyone half decent, the panic and paranoia about selling comes in and people become body language experts.

They should know by now we rarely sell when players are at their peak.

Generally we'll wait till they turn shite after not supporting them with good players and then sell them on for a fraction of what we could have sold for.

Many such cases.

Why would Clarke want to leave? Remember he's already been there and done that and didn't enjoy that. He was sold by Leeds to Spurs. He signed here to play football again and you can tell he loves his football here. Why would he want to ruin that again?

Money 1 big move can set him for life no matter what he does form wise.

That's the easy answer. Maybe he cares more about playing football than the pound signs. Like I said remember he's already left for the bright lights and dare I say more money in the process. He didn't enjoy it

Not sure which orifice these "journalists" pluck figures from bit anything under £20 million seems far to low for the lad.

Personally I hope we keep him unless he says he wants to leave

what privce had we’d gone up this season
as someone previously posted Gordon went to the mags for £40million & he’s not even half as good as Clarke

So because someone didn't enjoy something once they should never try it again?🤷‍♂️

Money is the answer, plus this time he would be being signed to contend to start for a PL team. Hopefully he doesn't leave but there are decent reasons for him going if he does.
