Bid rejected for Clarke

Burnley new bid for Sunderland’s Clarke
By Alan Nixon

Burnley are making a new £7 million plus extras bid for Sunderland winger Jack Clarke.
The Clarets have had one offer rejected as too low but are now at a higher number that may tempt the Black Cats.
Sunderland are looking for £10 million guaranteed for the former Tottenham and Leeds wide man who was outstanding in the Championship last season.
Burnley already have Anass Zaroury so Clarke would have to fight for a start when he comes to consider the move.
Brentford and Crystal Palace are also interested in Clarke but neither have come up with the cash yet.
Palace are unable to bid while they do not know what Wilfried Zaha is planning.

They need to f off and get real. 7m? Not a chance man.

Should we not be trying to get promoted this year to the premier League and then we can give Clarke premier League football ourselves

There's no need to sell he's got 3 years left.

If we don't go up this season then we can think about selling him

I think for them to keep on bidding would indicate Clarke is open to a move away. He's probably easy, happy to stay but intrigued about a move. Don't begrudge a move to Burnley because they're building a good young side, but you could double that and I'd still feel let down.

Nixon's tweets are protected.

Unusual for a journalist, although going off what I've read further up the page regarding a fee of £10m he probably doesn't want any more ridicule.
