Gender reveal "party"

They're not doing any harm, just wanting to celebrate and share something that's exciting in their lives.

In this cased , yes . The sister in law knows the sex and is sorting out the appropriate balloon or whatever . The parents to be are in the dark as to what they will reveal

Assuming a gender! The poor thing hasn't even had time to decide itself.

To be fair, I agree with you. It sounds horrendous, but this is the age of self publicity and pharming for likes.

I think that's a shame - that the parents aren't the first to know. Each to their own though and whatever makes them happy
 
Sadly in life sometimes you have to do things you don't want to do for people you care about. Be it this or a funeral or similar

You don’t even know these people. Taken on face value it’s just two young people sharing an important moment in their lives. I’m really not sure why people are so down about other people enjoying themselves. I bet half the folk slagging them off do some absolutely ridiculous things they wouldn’t dare admit to on here

If the point was just a get together then aye how could anybody be down about that? But we all know the real point is to post the video of the reveal on social media.

I don't know them, that's correct.

But revealing a gender is not a reason in itself to celebrate unless you live in a dystopian reality were one gender is to be celebrated above the other.

Conceiving and then giving birth are the reasons to celebrate. Baptism or other ceremony if religious. Revealing a gender? No

It’s something they’ve decided to share with their friends and family so for them it is something to celebrate. They’re obviously chuffed and want to share it.

Like I asserted, for their own personal attention seeking. Each to their own. As you say, they are not doing anything wrong.

Personally I was chuffed to be becoming a parent no matter the gender. I didn't consider having a party where everyone looked at me and my wife to reveal said gender.
