Bid rejected for Clarke

Or, you have us selling Henderson and bringing-in Larrson, Gardner and Vaughan or, selling Bent and buying Wickham and Ji.
Yes, our recruitment team have done brilliantly but after already losing Amad, Clarke gone would be 41 goals from last season. That's a huge ask to replace.
There's risk there, of course. But FFP is our enemy here. The lower limit amounts to exceeding a break-even point by a total of £8m in fees and £60k p/w in wages. That's only four transfers of the sort of level of Dan Ballard. It could be argued that the task of getting us promoted by incrementally adding high-talent, low-cost players to the squad while keeping hold of all of the previous transfer successes (and getting us up before they all want to leave) is actually harder than sacrificing one of those players for a big fee and recruiting with the added freedom that £20m in the bank gives you. Personally I'd be more than happy to see them take the harder road. I love our team right now and would be gutted to see almost any of them leave. However, I recognise that this path comes with its own challenges - and those challenges aren't insignificant either.

I think we will see a few interesting signings coming in, no idea what margins they have set on sales but I believe we are in good hands. The style of football we play is outstanding at times. Brilliant to see.

I'd like to see it scaled somewhat and I'm not sure what our budget stands at to be honest. No one wants to lose one of our better players but I just think a sale of over 20m would change the clubs outlook dramatically.

My 'ten pence' on this, surely Clarke himself knows he f*cked up last time he had a 'big' move and jumped to early, and he needs to develop his game still, even now.
I think we will get another season out of him - maybe thats me hoping rather than reality but hope he stays!
I think another season would make perfect sense. If he performs as he has been and we don't go up then he's still only 23 and will have PL options (with likely bigger wages as the fee would be lower). This seems the perfect place for him to be at the minute imo.

Yes it would. The glass ceiling broken, exciting times.

Think he has 3 years left at the moment, anyhow we are getting promoted next season so fuck all to worry about
Are you trying to say Clarke was by himself on the left, whilst 3 players played on the right? Did we play with no left side defender all season?
Just sometimes

Quite a big moment this. Chatter suggests that Clarke and the club are both keen to thrash out a new deal. If he is willing to turn down Premier League clubs to stay its a massive coup for the club and further proof that these players believe in what we're doing. Also shows that KLD and the board wont be selling at the first sign of a big wedge. And £9m to this club atm is gigantic, make no mistake about it.

If this is the sign of things to come then this club can go wherever it f***ing wants.
9mil is gigantic? You taking the piss!?

I think that's how he'll see it, obviously every player has his price and if an offer does get accepted it would be hard to turn down the wages and the fact the club are happy to sell at that price.

As Fabrizio Romano tweeted the club see him as vital to promotion and promotion gets us far more money than what selling Clarke could bring in to the club this summer.
