Bid rejected for Clarke

We have to hope he stays here, but you can't blame the lads who do move for the money. Especially to teams like Burnley, Brentford etc.

Go there on £40k a week with a good chance your playing most weeks, do well for a season and maybe one of the big boys come in for you
Mate, I wouldn't ever begrudge anyone moving for money and I'd likely do the same.

The ones that get me are those who try and say it was about something else *cough* Alex Neil *cough*.

Dont see him signing a new contract if the interest is genuine, to be honest.

The club has done class to get him tied down to the length they did, value wise when put next to some players sold recently he will not be cheap and a prem wage would mirror that, anything we could wouldn't touch it.

I'd be surprised if he stayed like. We just have to get the maximum we can and have a plan for the money and make sure its reinvested.

He’s only 22.

I’d hope he’d see what we’ve done for him and that he’d give us at least another season to try and get promoted. If he has another brilliant season and an even bigger club come in for him or we don’t get promoted then I wouldn’t begrudge him leaving then for the right price.

At the time being I think he’d be daft leaving us to go and sit on a bench somewhere.

I agree, he appears to love it here and whilst I doubt he'd want to move, the shift in cash would be too drastic. It's not as if the fee couldn't change our entire dynamic along with it.

I agree although I doubt he is that keen on a move. I think he'd love to stay, maybe on more money, as his last big move was bad. For the club I think a big fee would suit us to fund 4 or so good signings.

Why would be be daft to potentially get 4 or 5 times his salary, even if it is to be on the bench.

He might have a career ending injury tomorrow.

Some players aren’t driven by money.

Clarke has experienced going to Spurs for decent dosh and not getting a look in.

Hopefully his eyes are wide open.

Wouldn't get anywhere near the same amount though
So we keep the poorer players because they wont bring as much money if sold.Clarke,Patto,Ballard,Roberts must stay listen to offers for any others as long as decent bids are received.

I get the feeling we aren't going to be pushed around by other clubs, if we get an offer we can't refuse then great, we can take a huge profit less whatever sell on clause there might be due to Spurs and reinvest the rest. If we don't get the fee we need or decide not to sell we crack on and say to Jack after the coming season if we haven't been promoted we might be open to offers then especially as he might kick on even further with us in 23-24 as I think he still has two years to go.

He seems like a good lad from the interviews and things I've read about him. Hopefully he recognises that he's in a good place with this team and as we kick on, he can also do the same. Hoping he stays for the coming season and helps us to challenge and if we don't go up then I'd expect him to go.

I doubt we're looking to sell, which means it would have to be an incredible offer for us to do so.
Spot on mate some on here are desperate to get a big sale.We know the model, but for certain players the offer would have to be incredible, otherwise we might as well pack it all in.

Hope the lad stays as he’s an excellent player. Great individual ability, great team player (his defensive work is 1st class and he works his nuts off) and his stats for this season must be through the roof. Of course prem teams will be interested. If zaha is away then there might be summit in this as place have a record of picking players out of the champ. It would have to be a hell of a lot more than £9mill tho. They’re gonna pay double that for Eze and clarke probably had a better season than Eze did before they signed him.

If it is palace then he’ll likely play a lot and as much as I do rate Eze I think Clarke can be better (and Eze’s just getting in the England squad).

Hope he stays though. Very hard player to replace.

Alternatively, strike while the iron is hot. We turned down big money from Spurs for Kenwyne Jones and big money from Everton for Lamine Kone, both left for next to nowt.

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather keep Clarke but if he wanted to play in the PL and a good deal is on the table then take it and give somebody else a chance.
