Bid rejected for Clarke

I agree we should keep Clarke but you're massively simplistic when it comes to selling players.

If we got 25m for Clarke and 15 for Patterson (just as an example!). You should be able to build a stronger squad and improve every area of the team with £40m plus any budget we had.

It's why Brentford sold Watkins and benrahma for around 50m while in the championship. Why did they not go backwards then?
The ironic thing is the answer to that is because they stuck to their model, the model which the poster you are replying to thinks we shouldn't have.

Oh yeah we can reject any bid unless there's an a release clause. If Clarke wants to move then that's a problem. We don't want to keep someone who doesn't want to be here.

I'm hopeful he would want to try and get promoted with us and build this team rather than g to a bottom half prem team.

I'd think the lad would be happy enough to give us one more season. If he has another stormer, they'll be bigger clubs than Brentford looking at him and he's already jumped when he was younger.

I doubt we're looking to sell him so someone's going to have to offer big or he just stays.

If they got rid of the model, he would then say we should have kept the model. Guaranteed.
