Durham signing?

21 with bat 32 with ball only one fifty

He was he's won us a final and lost us a final

That’s his international record, I’ve posted his career T20 stats.

You laughed when it was suggested he should be in the team in the WC and ended up being shown up on that occasion too.

To say Stokes isn’t very good at T20 is laughable. You could say his stats aren’t great, but he’d be 1 of the 1st on my team every single day. There’s a reason IPL teams pay so much for him.

How can he be good if his stats aren't great he did brilliantly in the final but he was in the team because of who he is rather than form or merit

Ben Stokes box office, entertaining, fearless, risk taker, sometimes wreck less (but isn't that what we pay for in T20?), but when he's asked to step up on a big occasion he won't hide. T20 world champion also along with many other honours etc away from T20.

He puts bums on seats for that very reason. He adds the wow factor to the game, he's exciting. Stats don't always tell you everything but batting where he does his average isn't too bad to be fair.

If you want a winner, you pick Ben Stokes and that is why millions of people pay to watch him all around the world.

Reads a bit like a piece of punditry from Nasser, but I agree ;)

A combination of injuries and England duties have made this necessary as sadly from what I've seen of the 2nds T20 home games this season, none of our young pace bowlers have done anything to catch the eye and stake a claim in the Blast.

This.

Overall it seems like quite an underwhelming signing, he’s done alright in the competition in recent years but he hardly seems like he’ll be the antidote to cure our chronic T20 suffering. That said, he knows his own game, he’s played at the top level of international competition and will be a very reliable T20 strike bowler which was something that was clear coming into this years competition as being a very huge need for the club.

Got to admire the proactive way in which the club have moved to address this need.

Yes or no, would he be in your T20 side for Durham?

This is really tedious this like, it’s ok to admit you may be wrong on this y’know. Ben Stokes is STILL one of the best cricketers in the world, irrespective of format. As others have said, the bloke is box office.

Yes he would how is he box office in T20 apart from the one game how can you be box office if in general you don't score many runs or take many wickets, and yes before you say he was excellent in the final I'm not denying that I'm not the only person who was questioning his place in the t 20 team by the way

I hear where you are coming from that he himself has acknowledged he hasn’t really cracked T20 at domestic level, but I doubt there would be a county around, who would not have him in their team as a starter

having watched Stokes from a boy , I always felt he tried to be to funky with reverse sweeps getting him in bother and just wanted him to blast it straight

He would get in most international sides as well

One fifty says otherwise Joe roots record pisses all over stokes but he can't get look in, he's in because of his name

Yes,and sadly, the same can be said for our young batsmen although that issue is not so pressing.
