Roy

First of many no doubt, not just for this league, but could be any. We are close to the end really in terms of cricket as we know it when Enland can't even keep a player.

Got in a debate other day on here about IPL and I was told I was wrong to question it as its such great entertainment, despite very few people watching it

I have no idea how we can stop this now. Roy not a big loss but more what it represents. I guess it will be spun like he is on fringes of the side, we let him do it, but this will happen to someone in their prime soon enough.

Allows him more time to concentrate on his cafe and Bat conservation watch 🤔😉

Roy has never been the same player since he was disciplined by the ECB. I suspect he knew which direction the wind was blowing and jumped before he was pushed.

Good luck to him if wants to go down this direction.

Maybe I kind of knew this would be people’s response

I think saying it’s just Roy he won’t be missed, is kind of missing the point

As reported last month, the IPL franchise owners are quite open in their ambition to create year round franchise leagues.

Appeasing a hostile power never ever works, but we've completely bent over for them. We've already stopped playing cricket in the height of our summer for our own superficial hackfest, this is just the next step.

Are there any reports of top Aussie players joining these leagues?

Apart for Archer and Roy I've not heard if anyone else being offered these type of contracts.

Yeah they own some of the franchises in this American one

Also likes of Stonis and Lynn left the big bash to play in Dubai in some awful league

That’s almost as bad, we develop these players from bairns then they don’t even play in our country’s white ball leagues

More to come

I’m sorry like but there is so many tournaments in the English winter for these guys ti play in they don’t have to do this. I wouldn’t select them for England

You need to be flexible for sure but if you just roll over every single time then it will never stop and people like Buttler n co will do it

Him and Bairstow is the best opening partnership ever in ODI cricket.

Not sure we should be that happy about this, seeing as he's regained his form recently.

Average of 46 and 99SR this year.

Guess Malan has taken to ODI cricket very well but Roy on his day is definitely better.

India is killing cricket.

It’s fucked

Imagine in 5 years time

Yeah it’s not good like.

Reason I have so much respect for malan is he is desperate to play for England, and has turned down numerous franchise stuff just to get a game when others haven’t been there

If this is the end for Roy then it’s a good story for malan

You have to be flexible with franchise stuff and the ECB have been, but there’s a line

I could never understood why Strauss got stick for his review. He was right let’s be honest. This is coming like a train at us and Englands best players will soon be picked off

People shrug their shoulder as it’s Roy and he’s 31 but I’ll be a couple of years and they’ll be cherry picking our best young players
