Criticising Luton long ball

Is absolutely pathetic. It's accepted by all, yes even Sunderland fans, that your players in comparison to Luton's, are small. Luton had tall forwards and midfielders. Do you REALLY think that should the roles be reversed, you wouldn't utilize the height differential to your benefit?

Luton were only using a very obvious advantage. You hardly created a chance all game and you didn't deserve to go through to the final. You were desperate and got what you deserved. The long ball argument some are trying to criticize is pathetic.
I honestly can't believe you took the time to post that shit. Then again, new member, posting crap equals a WUM. Straight on ignore.

You are the Luton of the PL currently you’ll have some competition then if they go up. Maybe some of yours could wear the ninja headbands too

Thought some of your playing it out from the back was incredibly naive on Tuesday. Nearly caught you out on a few occasions as it just invited our high press in dangerous areas. We’ve played some great football this season and scored some great goals but we can do the ‘ugly’ side of the game if needed. Both yourselves and Boro far too one dimensional to be able to mix it up. No one complains when City pump it long to Haaland, it’s just being effective. Trying to pass the ball around us at home was never going to work.

Whilst the atmosphere was good at your place in the first leg, it’s impossible to replicate the hostility you can make at the old grounds. It did look like your younger players wilted under the pressure but probably a learning curve for them. It was always going to be tough with a few injuries to some of your defenders.

Whilst big family ‘stadiums’ might look nice but they are not in the least bit intimidating compared to football grounds. 45k in SoL can’t come close to the atmosphere of Roker Park. Once football grounds become a home for family days out they lose their edge.I’m sure it will be exactly the same when/if we ever move from KR

Sure you’ll be up there next season.
That's true most weeks to be honest.

Yeah mate , but you dont just find yourself with loads of big thugs and go " oh dear , i wonder what can i do with these against this good football side , better use the height seeing as though " . You buy the talentless big planks on purpose to play that game and compensate for the fact your shit on the deck and cant find proper ballers . It just so happened all the height and strength in our balanced side was injured so your shit worked.
Dont go getting ideas you had us worked out and employed a specific tactic, its all you can do and it only worked against a depleted side . Lucky yous

Ps . Im not knocking your long ball, what else are you going to do . We'll take up your PL place next year playing football.

I love it. Think it's fantastic to watch
Some of the replies on this thread are insane. We manage to string together a measly season and a half of playing decent passing football and now all of a sudden some of our fans think aggressive pressing and crossing into the box is somehow beneath us? "I wouldn't pay to watch that kind of football"? Seriously? Mag-like behaviour, honestly. Get a f***ing grip :lol::lol::lol:
I wouldn't say they were like that though. There crosses were mostly from set pieces bar a few exceptions. They were just hoofing it up from the back a lot of the time.Awful to watch. They beat us cos of injuries ,so our centre half's, and team in general, are rather small.

You got lucky that we had so many injuries. We know we had a better squad, it's just a shame we had so many key players out. Even though we were at a major disadvantage, you still struggled to beat us convincingly over two legs. We played you off the park at home, we should have won by more.

In the away game, the ref missed a clear penalty and red card.

Aye we should have just bypassed the press and launched it long or into the channel for our centre forwards to challenge for......oh wait we didn't have a centre forward. Should we have just hoofed it into empty space rather than try to keep the ball?

I’d like to see the reaction on here if the O’nien challenge in the first leg was done by one of our players. Admittedly the Geldhart incident was hard to see, but the reaction would of course be different if that was one of your players.

It’s football. Im quite happy to pay to watch us win games. I think I’d probably be irritated to pay to watch my team repeatedly try and play out from the back and get nowhere. If we are being fair it honestly could’ve been 4/5 goals from us on Tuesday but for heroic defending and wastefulness. I think you’d all be happy to pay to watch your players put in the kind of aggression and determination ours do.

Then perhaps your extremely wealthy owner should have assembled a squad with more than 1 striker to choose from.

We had Simms, Everton recalled him. We brought in Gelhardt, Stewart suffered another injury. We're a newly promoted side, this is your 3rd or 4th season in the league.

We are class at playing it out from the back.We are one of the top scorers in the league through it.We don't get nowhere with it, we have scored countless goals playing out from the back. You are full of shit. And nah, I would hate to watch your brand of 'football' all season.

Aye but it’s so one dimensional and requires a team of quality players. Became very easy to close you down and force mistakes, your players seemed to wilt under the pressure/crowd.

This notion we are some team of giants is very misplaced. Not a single midfielder was over 6ft, and save for the GK, Morris (6’2) and Adebyao (6’4) no one is over 6’1. More accurate to say your side are very small than to point to our two players with above average height. I think the giants tag is an illusion that comes from seeing a side who simply wanted it more than their opponents and ultimately played better football.

You would though let’s be honest.
There is no comparison with the way we play and 1980s Wimbledon in terms of pressing and quality. I haven’t seen us repeatedly aimlessly hoofing the ball this season, it’s about work rate. There is no fan who wouldn’t have enjoyed seeing their team play like we did on Tuesday. It could and should have been 5-0

Talk about using stats to suit your argument. You only had 3 players who are shorter than 6 foot 😂

We had 2 players 6 foot or taller, 1 outfield player.

Yes, with a fully squad we'd have had 5 over 6 foot but even then you would have still had more height than us!

2 outfield players on Tuesday taller than 6”1 is the truth. That’s not giants that just sensible recruitment.
The team with abnormal height was your lot, not a case of us being big.

Don’t think we’d be getting called giants if Batth etc was available.

Enjoy your win and final, good luck now kindly fuck off

I was entertained by some long balls, especially when the Luton goalkeeper kicked the ball out of his hands, the trajectory of the ball was fascinating as it surpassed the height of the stands continuing upward until it peaked and gravity brought the ball hurtling back down to earth where it terminated its journey in the hands of Patterson. I was thinking wow, that’s the future of football. Pundits could plot the course of the ball in their post match analysis and discuss the acceleration, apex and descent into the opposition keepers hands, applying the laws of physics but dumbing it down for us fans at home. The editors could cut to the 20 outfield players, as they look heavenward, heads slowly turning in awe as if watching the Red Arrows fly overhead in some courageous exhibition of their piloting skills.

You are awful to watch. I would hate to watch that every week. Send me to sleep, just like your crack

Well you don’t watch us every week. We can mix it up a lot. Obviously when you come up against a young side with obvious weaknesses with only one way of playing, you are of course going to play to that weakness. There’s nothing soporific about a team that presses like we do.

You play nice football but it won’t get you far in this league without better players.
