Tony Mowbray

It doesn't need to be a public statement, but something has to filter through, to quell discontent going into the new season

The club cant make statements on every bit of rumour like, its still just press talk like

People reference Mowbray's comments but he has been asked directly about it thats why.
I remember when Andre Villas Boas was touted as being the greatest thing since sliced bread. He's now a rally driver.

He was mint at his first season at Spurs mind, totally transformed Bale's career.

Can't see it being that lad from Austria. According to reports in Germany he would cost 3-5m euros.

His record suggests he wouldn't get us up. Hes got 1 PL promotion and it was nearly 20 years ago.

I'm not sure I care.

After years of players and managers milking the club, we've got a group of players and a coach who have made me a proud Sunderland fan again. If that means not achieving promotion next year year, but another season like this one, sign me up. I wasn't remotely convinced that he was the right man for the job when we appointed him, but I've absolutely loved this season, and what we've become under him. The PL isn't the holy grail for me (although accept it is for many, and likely KLD).

Nail and head why would you get rid of an over performing manager playing fantastic football - it makes no sense

It's shite for a club like SAFC. At the very best avoiding going down and watching Arsenal and the like come and pass 'round you for 90 minutes. It's not a game of English football either.

Much better off in the Championship watching largely an English game of football and a chance of doing something. Except the money of course, loads of clubs losing money hand over fist in the second division.

Binning off a successful manager is so high risk. The bar is set so high - anything less than playoffs will be seen as failure. Anything less than thrilling positive football will be criticised.
The foreign coaches mentioned have no experience of England or the championship.
Tony will be free to manage maybe another championship side meaning we’d be up against him twice and Neil twice! It’s not a great idea.

Kompany had no experience of the league and Burnley romped home.

What else can you do though? If you want to win most of your games you’ll end up trying to get promoted.

No, totally understand that - I suppose I think of it as a consequence rather than the goal.

I thought it was too early to be promoted, but I was so happy we made the play offs, buzzing after the home win and gutted last night. I'm happy if it happens, but not sure I'd chase it as the goal next season if it means risking what we've built so far.

And why does that take a public statement?

As good a job as Mowbray has done. His career suggests he is unlikely to keep improving us and take us into the PL.

The club are clearly looking for a better coach that aligns with their ambitions. Who knows what will happen this summer.
Probably been looking since they appointment TM

Just not sure what the reason would be.

Mowbray got his team going and often the tactics were spot on. Don’t know whos fault it was that the home form was awful really.

It’s clearly Speakman who signs the players and he failed to sign a striker or get cover sorted properly

So who is to blame and is there actually blame to throw about? Mowbray did the best he could with the players available to him, if he goes, what does he go?

I think he’s off like. Too much going on rumours wise from respected sources for there to be nothing in it imo. Done a great job and would be sad to see him go, but if we can improve then we should be ruthless. When you look at the hard facts of his recent career Mowbray will struggle to get that promotion.

there is still only 1 respected journo said out, the rest is just rehashed comments really, talksport arent trusted for me.

just pointing out. be gutted like
