CC : Gloucestershire v Durham

Following our thrilling victory on Sunday against that lot from down south we stand 18 points clear of second place Sussex. However as we all know we will be without the services of Carse for the foreseeable and its also likely Potts will be rested.

Hopefully Coggs can make a quick recovery and be available and it will be either Killeen, Gibson or McAlindon making the step up.

Our opponents lie in 6th place on 38 pts and are in fact unbeaten with 4 draws and a washout and they've lost over five days to the weather in their two home games this season. Gloucs returned to Div 2 after a brief flirtation with the top flight in 2022 when they finished bottom. We last played them in 2021 where Zafar Gohar took eleven wickets and the game finished inside two days....and yes he will be playing on Thursday.

Weather looks to be dry with sunny spells which should be good news for their batters who so far have managed to accumulate only 3 bonus points. Their line up includes Tom Price who this season completed his maiden century and followed it up with a hat trick in the same match as well as forgotten England keeper Bracey.

Let's hope we can get another win under our belts before we start the T20 campaign.

The pitch Glos prepared was a real bunsen. Even Trev, hardly the biggest spinner of the ball, bowled one which went off a good length over the heads of the batter and the keeper and went for 4 byes.

If the the Rob Key pitch inspectors still existed, they’d have been there like a shot 😁

Are you sure he’s not a big spinner of the ball or has his opportunities to bowl on a spinning pitch lacked?

You may be right, but my understanding is that the current management have signed spinners this season (3 now) who give the ball more revs than he does. This is what Campbell prefers apparently.

I like Trev, but he seems to rely more on flight and variation of pace. And he can certainly bat a bit (see yesterday’s T20 scores for the 2nds). I’m sure he has a good future at the club and will benefit from having others around.

How did Bas De Leede look during the recent game?

I’m hoping he could be a handy player in the t20 as well

The 2nds have T20 double headers tomorrow and Monday. Wonder if that’s where Trev will be? He will be the most senior player if he Is.

He was head and shoulders above the others in the two back to back T20s on Monday. I'm amazed Drissell has got the nod over him.

He reminded me a bit of Nathan Rimmington.

Unconfirmed rumour it's a 1:50 pm start with a 8:50 pm finish each day 😉🏏🌌
